A few weeks went by, and Lavender continued to gush about Ron to her heart's content. I was getting a little better at not feeling nauseous when she brought him up, but not really.

Because I agreed with every different way she described how she felt about him.

"Y/n," said Lavender in a serious tone while we walked together through the halls. "I've come up with the perfect thing to do since Ron is too scared to ask me on a date."

"Hm," I grunted in response, not completely listening to what she was saying.

"I'm just gonna ask him out!" she squealed, clapping her hands together.

"You are?" I asked, suddenly paying attention and coming off more shocked than supportive.

"Well, I was going to," she replied, furrowing her eyebrows at my response. "Do you think I shouldn't?"

I do not think you should, no.

"Oh, no, you should," I encouraged her, biting my tongue instinctively.

"I'm thinking something simple. Like we go out to eat. It is Valentine's Day," she thought aloud.

"It is," I grimaced with a phony smile.

"Well, I'm heading back to my room," she sighed. "I'll talk to you more about this later."

I smiled at her as she danced away, realizing what I had encouraged her to do.

I have to find Ron.

I headed over to his room and lifted my hand to knock politely.

"Who is it?" came Ron's annoyed voice from the other side.

"It's me," I called out. "Open up."

I heard his footsteps approach the door before it swung open to reveal Ron looking like he'd just woken up.

"What do you want?" he groaned, rubbing his eyes with the palms of his hands. "I was sleeping."

"Sorry," I apologized quickly. "I have to talk to you."

"It couldn't have waited until a reasonable hour?" he complained, rolling his eyes and shutting the door after I'd come in.

I sighed and fidgeted with my hands distractedly before I spoke. "Lavender is planning on asking you out today."

He wrinkled his nose. "Oh."

"Well?" I asked anxiously, knowing exactly what response I was hoping for before I took a deep breath asked, "What are you gonna say?"

"I'm gonna say no," he exhaled, running his hand through his hair before looking at me.

"What?" I cried, equally as excited by the answer as I was disappointed.
