The story isn't over yet folks

Sorry for the mean joke

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You jump off the carriage and summersault. You run to catch up with the wizard. The carriage slows to a halt and the games keeper helps you inside. A moment later, the carriage moves off again.
"Hello?" a voice calls out.
"Look, unless you can help me escape, please don't talk to me."
You look and see a young boy holding a dead rat by a leash. The boy looks at you then nods at the games keeper.
"I'm sorry, but sometimes accidents happen."
"Is that your pet?"
The boy nods. "My mother won't let release him because he got hold of the wrong end and bled all over her new dress."
"It was an accident."
"Yes, they always are."
"I think I can heal him."
The boy frowns. "How?"
You show him the scratches. "I got these when I was out with my siblings."
The boy nods.
"Lay him in front of me and cover him with a palm leaf."
The games keeper lays the rat over your legs and you begin to concentrate.
You feel the wound close up. You pull back the skin to see that it has completely healed.
"See? I can fix things."
"Which is why, I would like to join you on your adventure, wizard. Please let me come."
The boy smiles. "I would be honored to have you with us, but I think you should be careful. There are many things in this world that want to kill you just for your looks."
You frown.
"Whatever do you mean?"
The boy smiles. "Have you ever heard of the hobs?"
"Bends low to the ground, always grinning, hair like a dirty puddle..." you begin to quote the fairy tale.
The boy laughs. "That's the wrong fairy tale. They're actually called hobgoblins."
You nod, sorry you didn't know.
"What do my looks have to do with anything?"
The boy smiles. "Everything. The hobs are big ugly beings that live in the swamps. They like to steal children and eat them."
You begin to feel nervous.
"So I should change my look before we go?"
The boy shakes his head. "No, they would still want to eat you regardless of your looks. However..." he looks around and takes out a wooden pin.
"What's that?"
"This is a token of my friendship. If you ever find yourself in trouble, give a yell and I will come to find you."
You take the token and look at it. You attach it to you barrette and smile.
The boy nods. "Thank you, kind traveller. I hope we meet under less dangerous circumstances next time."
The carriage turns a corner at high speed and you are thrown forward.
