"Hello?"

The creature growls at you, and you take a step back.

The games keeper walks up to you. "I think he understands you. He's just being mean because he doesn't like people."

"I thought you said my siblings were in here?"

"They are. This is just like a smaller version of the captain's room."

The creature looks up at you, it's eyes appearing almost human like in their gaze.

"What happened to you?"

"The beast of the forest took my eyes."

The creature looks at you for a moment, it's eyes full of pain. You take a deep breath and look away.

"It looks harmless"

"No."

The creature stands up and looks at you. It lets out a horrible growl. You grasp your arm where the cat scratched you and fall to the floor.

"You shouldn't be here."

"I need to know how to fix my brothers and sisters."

"They're dead. They stopped breathing an hour ago."

"What! Why did you let me come down here then?"

"I needed someone to blame."

"Dead? You mean there's nothing to be done?"

"No. It's nature. People stop breathing. They rot. It's what happens."

"If the rest of my family is dead, how am I still alive?"

"You're special. I'll make sure you get to the island."

The games keeper grabs your hand and helps you up. You stand in front of the cages. You wave to the bear-like man and climb up the stairs. The games keeper leads you back into the tunnel and out to the foggy beach.

"Here, get to the carriage waiting for you."

The games keeper wishes you good luck one more time before leaving.

"I thought we were going on the adventure together? Please take me with you!"

The games keeper shakes his head. "I don't think so. It would be too dangerous for both of us."

You are about to argue when you feel the carriage moving under you.

"I don't care how dangerous it is. I can't just stay here. I need someone to take care of me!"

"Sorry, but that's just how it is."

You watch the trees pass by. This isn't exactly what you had planned, but you suppose it did turn out for the best.
