Best Friends or More?

Part 4

~A few months later~

Betty was really sick.

And when I say really sick I mean she was throwing up all the time.

She never felt better.

But the weird thing was that she was always hungry.

Since she had no clue what was going on, she had to use her best source; google.

She went on her laptop and began searching up what could be her problem.

Then she found a list of things: Death, Stomach Virus, Food Poisoning, etc. But I mean, it most likely wasn't death. It wasn't a stomach virus because that only lasts up to 24 hours. And it wasn't food poisoning because that makes you not want to eat. But then she saw the last thing on the list:

Pregnancy.

Betty- N-No... (tears)

She quickly closed out her tab on her computer and grabbed her phone instantly calling Veronica.

On the phone:

Veronica- Hey B, what's up?

Betty- V, I n-need help. (tears)

Veronica- I'll do anything, what's wrong?

Betty- I need you to g-get me a pregnancy test. (tears)

Veronica- W-What?

Betty- P-Please, I don't know what to do. (cries)

Veronica- Yeah, I'll be there soon, I promise.

Betty- Thank you. (sniffles)

Veronica- No problem, just stay calm.

Off the phone:

She placed her phone down on her duvet and let her head fall back against the headboard of her bed.

Then without even realising that time had gone by, she heard a knock on the door.

She got up and opened it instantly revealing her best girl friend.

The two of them went into Betty's room and stood in the bathroom for a moment before Veronica handed her the pregnancy test.

Veronica- You actually think you're pregnant?

Betty- I don't know...I've just been so sick lately and I haven't gotten my period. (tears)

Veronica- (nods) If you need anything I'll be right outside, okay?

Betty nodded and hugged Veronica tight before closing the bathroom door.

She took the test and placed it face down on the counter, then she walked out to her bed.

She sat down next to Veronica and they both stayed quiet until Betty's alarm went off.

She went and grabbed the test from the counter, but she didn't look.

She couldn't look.

She was too scared.

This one small stick could change her life, and she wasn't ready for it. So she just began to cry.

Veronica- B...

Betty- I c-can't, I can't look at it. (cries)

Veronica- Do you want to do it together?

She nodded and they both held one side of the stick before they flipped it over.

Then they saw the word in bold:

Pregnant.

Betty broke down, she couldn't have a kid right now, especially since the father was none other than her best friend.

Veronica got down on the floor next to Betty and hugged her tight, trying to calm her down, but it didn't work.

Veronica- Betty, d-do you know who the father is?

She nodded while continuing to cry into the girl's shoulder, she didn't want it to be true.

Veronica- Who is it? (softly)

Betty- J-Jughead. (sobs)

Veronica- W-What?! When did yo-

Betty- The night we went to the club. We got drunk. Somehow we ended up back at his place and we did it. But we barely even remember it happening and we promised to just forget about it. (sobs)

Veronica- Betts, that was like 2 months ago. Are you sure it's him?

Betty- (nods) He's the only person I've done it with in over a year. (cries)

Veronica- Then you need to tell him.

Betty- I can't, it'll ruin everything. (cries)

Veronica- Betty, that doesn't matter anymor-

Betty- It does! (cries)

Veronica- No it doesn't. You have a baby growing inside of you right now, that's what matters. He needs to know and you need to be the one to tell him.

Betty- H-He'll hate me. (sobs)

Veronica- He won't, he couldn't.

Betty- Are you sure? (cries)

Veronica- Yes, now, do you want me to drop you off at his place so you two can talk?

Betty- I guess so. (sniffles)

Veronica- Okay, let's go.

Betty grabbed her purse and placed the pregnancy test in it before she and Veronica got in the car and drove to Jugheads apartment.

But as soon as they arrived she got nervous and began to cry again.

Veronica- I know you're scared, but it'll be better for you and the baby if you tell him now.

Betty- (nods) T-Thank you. (cries)

Veronica- Of course, I'm always here for you.

Betty hopped out of the car and went up to his apartment.

She stood outside of the door for a few minutes and just started at it until she finally knocked.

But she instantly regretted it.

Then Jughead opened the door.

At first he was excited to see her, but then he saw her red face with the tears all over.

Jughead- Betts...are you okay? (softly)

She didn't respond so he just grabbed her hands and led her inside of the apartment.

He brought her over to the couch and faced her while placing his hand on her cheek.

Jughead- Betts talk to me.

Again she didn't respond.

Jughead- Seriously, Betts, what's up?

Betty- I'm pregnant. (cries)

Jughead- Really? You are?

Betty- Yeah. (cries)

She handed him the pregnancy test from her purse and he was shocked.

Jughead- (nods) Who's the dad?

Betty- Y-You. (sniffles)

Then he went silent.
