"Niall James Horan, you better have been good to that precious girl! Don't you dare lose an angel like her, she's extremely good for you and most importantly you absolutely love each other!"
"Mum, I-"
"Are you listening to me, Niall? I don't believe anything I read in the newspaper anymore but even I could see the tension between you both in that horrendous interview! My darling boy, you know I love you but this girl is your angel! She brings you light, love, hope, the list goes on!"
I pull the phone away from my ear for a second, my mother's voice still shouting passionately down the other end of the line.
I have been waiting for a phone call from her.
Everything my mother is saying is completely correct, and although her tone may be slightly brash, I just can't argue with her because Lilli truly is my angel.
"You are at your happiest when she is with you! I was just talking to your father about the time when you first brought her home to us, you were smiling wider than I had ever seen, wasn't he Bobby? Smiling at her! She brings out the best in you, sweetheart, just as you bring out the best in her!"
I smile and nod, despite the fact that my mother can't see me.
"You're right, I-"
"Well of course, I am right! Of that there is no question, the question is whether or not you and Lilli can begin to listen to one another again!"
I chuckle lightly at my mother as I fix my black, bow tie in the mirror, picturing how my father is most likely battling her for the phone.
