N I A L L

The evening dinner with all of the production team, golf associates and extremely rich people to impress slowly drolls on until I am absolutely certain that the old, rich men have caused a shortage of the entire wine and whiskey distilleries in Georgia and the women's laughter becomes more delirious as their pinched heels ache their feet.

The only thing that draws my focus throughout the entire dinner party is my beautiful girl who I cannot take my eyes off for even a second, my eyes focusing on her beautiful green eyes gleaming in the candlelight, her pastel, blue hair perfectly styled into a sleek low bun that draws focus to her elegantly highlighted collarbones, I even notice the way that she slightly fumbles over the correct choice of cutlery to use.

I am a fool in love.

The focus is unfortunately on the word fool as even though we have regained our playfulness and the flirting and teasing is beautifully familiar and warm, we still need to talk and apologise and I plan on doing so tonight.

I always thought that people depicted as being in love were crazy, always sacrificing themselves and their common sense for this invisible bond but I now truly understand the manic, burning pain that is love every single time that I am blessed by Lilli's presence.

She is my entire universe and so I need to take accountability for all of my painful wrongs in order to restore our relationship that I absolutely cherish and selfishly took for granted.

Lilli always says that an apology is only perfectly true and meaningful when backed up with positive and affirmative action that acts as evidence of change and as much as I loved teasing and holding her in the rose garden, I know that that is most definitely not enough to make it up to her.

After the evening meal the men commence to the whiskey bar, with some drifting off towards the snooker table, whilst the women chatter loudly, smoke their cigarettes and begin to play card games in the expensive lounge room.

I am pulled away from Lilli who is engulfed by middle-aged women who are eyeing her up and trying to familiarise themselves with the latest addition to the golfing social circle, aka new money.

The same is happening with me in the whiskey bar but the men are a lot more blunt with their invasive questions, immediately sussing out my business intentions and asking about professional contracts, married life and the question of 'so exactly how much money is in your current bank account?'
