"Let me see your mark," was what he said.
"Excuse me?" I must not have heard right.
"I didn't stutter," he growled.
I gave him a crooked grin. "I don't think so," I said.
"They said 'The Freiden Renegade' has a brand. I want to see if it's true. I want to see what symbol it is," he explained.
"No."
He tilted his head and then stood up. He went around the desk and stopped in front of me. He stood right above me. So tall. Eyes so brown. Hair almost black.
"I am the alpha," he said menacingly. "I will find that mark even if it means seeing it when you don't want me to."
I kept my composure. I didn't move, didn't breathe. I just stared at him waiting for what would happen next.
"You're dismissed," he said before walking away.
I turned my heel and exited to the hallway. It was empty except for four seniors. A tall boy with brown hair and green eyes was to my left and behind him was a girl with reddish hair and blue eyes that were lined with light eyeshadow. Two more boys were to my right. One was fairly shorter than the others and had black hair and solid black eyes. The other was blonde with hazel eyes and just as tall as the boy with green eyes.
"I'm Sam," said the tall boy with green eyes, "That's Lizbet, Amon, and Corey."
Sam: the Stupid guy who kept glaring at me.
Lizbet: Redhead with blue eyes. Might be nice. Who knows?
Amon: All black.
Corey: Hazel eyes and sandy hair.
"I'm Chris," I said.
"Good to have your acquaintance," Corey said looking up and down like I was a sculpture.
"Hi," Amon said giving me a wave and smile.
"Nice to meet you," Lizbet said giving me a full-toothed grin.
"We're your monitors, not your friends," Sam said glaring at his fellow seniors. Jackass.
"What class do we have?" I asked Lizbet.
She handed me a schedule. "First is AB Calculus, then English, Spanish, Environmental Science, and lunch. Afterwards is AP American History, Gym and then we have a free period."
I looked at the schedule she had given me. There were various colors for the classes. This didn't overwhelm me because Dimitri had put me and my sister into good schools out of the pleads from my mother, so we have gotten some pretty decent schooling. Even though this looked easy I knew I was going to get a lot of bull from other students.
The class had already begun. There were rows and rows of students. All of the different heritages, race, and combinations of hair and eye colors. I've never seen so many peaceful people all in one place. There was a woman at the front of the room. She had dark brown hair and these bright hazel eyes. Her hair pooled over her shoulders and she was writing on the smartboard with an erasable marker. She glances our way and motioned for us to come in.
Sam pushed open the door and handed her a slip of paper. She eyed me then smiled.
"The five of you," she began, "Please take those seats." She pointed to five empty seats that formed a cross. One empty in front, one to the left, right, back, and in the middle. I took the middle seat.
Lizbet was in front, Amon to my left, Corey to my right and Sam to my back.
"I'm Ms. Kaira, I teach your AB Calculus class and I have been informed on your status," she said to me, "I'll be your teacher for the rest of your senior year." She narrowed her eyes at me. "Miss Seul."
She said my last name perfectly. No hesitation. Even the best teachers got my last name wrong and either "Su-el" or "Say-ul" when it's pronounced "Sel". For God sake dad was French! I picked it up from somewhere!
Class went on as it should have but it was awkward. I felt the stares from multiple people as Ms. Kaira taught the lesson. It was like I took the notes but didn't know what I was taking them on. I knew the topic but my mind slowly drifted.
Kaira started with the basics and then into advanced stuff. I knew it but still, it felt like I didn't belong there.
Class ended quickly even though it was just an hour long. "C'mon, hurry up," Sam said packing his bags already.
"Actually, Sam," Ms. Kaira said stopping Sam, "I'll like to talk to Chris if that's alright. Alone."
Sam looked at me skeptically. "She does anything stupid just scream. Come on, guys. We'll just wait for her outside."
Kaira leaned on the desk behind her and I just stood firmly on my two feet.
"You don't have to be uncomfortable," she said, "You'll see everything will become normal. You'll live a normal werewolf life."
"It'll be hard to be normal," I said, "You know I'm a rogue."
"So was I but that didn't stop me."
My eyes widened at the woman standing before me who was supposed to be my math teacher.
"I was wild," she said, "My alpha couldn't control me and neither could his betas. Things got out of hand and well... you know what happened." She flashed her eyes at me. They glowed bright blue. She had killed someone but she had killed someone who shouldn't have had to die. "It was an accident but accident or not it was murder. What was I supposed to do? Dean's father took me in when I was the youthful age of seventeen. I went to school got my degree and came back here. I wasn't stupid like most rogues. Not like you."
That stung.
"I was smart and held my tongue or I would have been an example," she told me.
"What happens to examples?" I asked carefully.
"They're executed," she said finally, "In front of the entire pack."
My blood ran cold and I swallowed hard. If I did anything stupid I'll be killed.
"I wouldn't say what you did was right but it was understandable," she said, "Dean will come to see that. He's a good boy. Just don't get on his bad side or he'll do one of two things."
I leaned in to listen.
"He'll make you cry until your chest and eyes hurt or he'll put you into submission and make you beg for mercy," Kaira told me, "He did that to three rogues last month. They never came back, so I suggest you watch your tongue around him. And Sam, he's a snitch. You're dismissed."
I left the room a little more antsy than usual. My monitors looked at me strangely but brushed it off. Within a few seconds, the halls were filled and it was hard to stick with them but to my luck, we made it to our next class without any problems.
