"...Blue," I said through short gasps. The pain in my side just shot everywhere. I should have seen this coming and all of this would have been avoided.
"Okay, cool," Dean said a smile crawling on his lips, "Mine's green. How old are you? I'm eighteen."
"These questions," I began softly, "are irrelevant for you. Why are you asking me this? You're an alpha. I know you can care less."
The wind whipping through his brown hair and his dark eyes locked on the road in front of him.
"Fine," he said matter-of-factly, "I don't want you to die, okay?"
I looked up at him through the helmet. His demeanor didn't change. If anything, he was completely stoic. As expected from an alpha, you must put aside you personal matters for the sake of the pack.
"So?" I said. "Who would miss me?"
"You're mom," he said bluntly.
I didn't say anything after that. Mom sure would miss me. And maybe Nina too. But me dying would be a burden lifted off of them. They wouldn't have to worry about being associated with an alpha killing daughter. They would be fine and I would be at peace with dad.
My vision was getting blurry and I was getting sleepy. Really sleepy. To a point where it hurt to keep my eyes open.
Dean lightly slapped the helmet. "Don't fall asleep. Keep talking to me. Tell me a story or something."
I thought for a second. I had a lot of personal stuff to tell and quite a bit to get off my chest.
"How about...me?" I said craning my neck up, "I'll tell you about me."
"Okay," he said and gave me a small grin. It was probably a grin just to show me that he was listening.
"My dad died when I was nine..." I huffed, "he was a good guy, you know. I mean he was my dad every kid at that age thinks their dad was a person to be admired...So...so when he died...it came down hard..." I chuckled. "I never thought I would see my dad's name on a headstone." My face felt hot. I think I was crying. "Then Dimitri took over. He was...alright at first. Then...then things got worse. He saw the money my dad been pooling in and he used it...a lot of it...he began to drink a lot and then when he saw me...Something in him snapped." I coughed into my hand and only blood came out. I got scared. I wiped it on my shirt that was already bloody so that he wouldn't notice. "The bastard would hit me. So what I did was retaliate." I balled his shirt in my hands. "I would shred letters, scratch his car, and tear holes in his best clothes. I was an evil kid." I laughed and my inside felt like they were being ripped apart. "Dean...I can't...it hurts so much..."
"Whatever yo do don't close your eyes," he yelled, "We're almost there! See look! The house is right up ahead."
There was another grin plastered on his lips. Why was this guy so determined to save me?
"Dean?" He didn't answer. "Dean...." He was quiet. "Dean, Dean, Dean!"
"Yeah," he answered without a hint of annoyance.
I swallowed the blood in my mouth and let my eyes close. My grip on his short weakened. "I don't want to die."
My body went limp and my vision was black. I could only hear him yell some more before I fully passed out. Damn.
That was pretty pathetic.
