"Pearson!" Coach Harry Robinson called out and other three students from their practice. "You four are participating in the relay this year. I'll have your new schedule by the end of the practice."
Seven protested. "What do you mean? What 'bout individuals?"
Coach eyed him. "You're not fit for it this year." He walked away towards his office.
Seven was not one to back out. "I can do it, you know, I can. I'm fit!"
The coach did not like his tone one bit. "If it's about your father, Seven, then I can talk to him, but this year the competition is not for you."
"Every competition is equally important." Seven wanted to tell him confidently, but his voice shook due to anger. "And, no, I don't need you to talk to my dad."
Coach sighed. He could guess how Seven's relation was with his dad.
Dean Pearson had been his friend his whole life and he knew how difficult the man could be when he wanted to be. "Seven, focus on your practice only."
