High School Musical 3 Senior Year: Troy Bolton x Reader

CHAPTER 6

THE FOLLOWING MORNING, Kelsey plays the new song she is considering adding to the musical. She plays a slow melody as she hums softly to herself. She pauses when she hears the music room's door open. Ryan softly closes it behind, before approaching Kelsey who sat behind the piano.

"Morning."

"Morning."

Ryan pours himself a cup of tea that Kelsey had sat on top of the piano. He takes a sip of the hot liquid as he looks over the sheets of music that's laid against the stand on the piano. Sitting himself next to Kelsey, Ryan places his hands on the piano and begins to play the song and starts to sing.

"I got a lot of things I have to do
All these distractions
Our future's coming soon
We're being pulled
A hundred different directions
But whatever happens
I know I've got you..." Kelsey joins in slowly as Ryan continues to play, softly.

"It's beautiful."

"Thanks." Kelsey mutters shyly as she smiles.

"I mean, really. This, the prom number, everything. It's going to be a great show." Ryan continues as he looks over at Kelsey. "Speaking of prom, what are you doing?"

"It's two days before the show." Kelsey begins. "I'm writing orchestrations and fixing charts. I still have to write lyrics."

"Great." Ryan comments, cutting Kelsey off. "I'll pick you up at 8:00."

Y/N and Troy sings at rehearsal after school. They are sitting on top of the piano, practicing. Everyone else is preparing the sets, painting, decorating or getting fitted for their costumes. Troy throws the music sheet the two were looking at aside, causing Y/N to look at him.

"No matter where life takes us
Nothing can break us apart
You know it's true
I just wanna be with you." Troy helps Y/N stand on top of the piano as they hold hands, looking into each other's eyes.

"Just be with you
You know how life can be
It changes overnight
It's sunny then raining
but it's all right
A friend like you
Always makes it easy." Troy walks down the aisle of the auditorium as Y/N stands on stage that was decorated to look like a balcony. Ryan stands up there with her. He shows her the choreography he made for this scene, her following along as she continues to sing.

"I know that you get me

Through every up through every down
you know I'll always be around
Through anything you can count on me." As Troy walks closer to the stage, he starts to walk on the seats, causing him to have to step over Ms. Darbus.

As the couple continues to sing, Chad walks out with an irritated expression on his face. He's wearing a clown costume. On one side the color is pink with green polka dots and with purple frilly sleeves. The other side, however, is white with black diamonds. Ryan laughs as he sees Chad, causing Taylor to walk on stage. She pulls Chad off who follows reluctantly.

Only you." Troy climbs up the prop tree that is painted green and brown, to reach the balcony prop, Y/N stands on. He spreads his arms out revealing a spot of green paint on his hand, causing Y/N to laugh.

"No matter where life takes us
Nothing can break us apart
You know it's true
I just wanna be with you
I just wanna be with you ." Troy jumps over the railing of the balcony. The two slowly shuffle closer and closer together, before turning to face each other. Troy holds his paint covered hands out to Y/N causing her to quickly bend down. she grabs a brush that was sitting on the balcony that was used to paint the railings white. She wipes the brush along Troy's neck, leaving a white streak behind.

Y/N tries to run away but Troy quickly wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her into his chest. He swings her around causing her to laugh. Troy sets her down in front of him as Y/N turns to face him. He slowly twirls her around causing their friends, who were watching the couple to 'aww'. Y/N leans her head on Troy's chest once he stops spinning her, feeling his head rest on hers.

Everyone claps as they finished, causing the two to pull apart, put they keep their hands intertwined.

"Bravo! Great rehearsal." Ryan claps as he steps on to the makeshift balcony. "Pity the actor that has to follow you."

"I believe that actor is you, Mr. Choreographer." Kelsey says causing everyone to laugh.

"Oh, really?"

"OK, let's take five and run it again."

"Yes!"

"Ryan!" Sharpay yells, causing Ryan to turn. He sighs as he sees his sister before turning to face everyone.

"That's five, everybody."

Everyone walks away to either get a drink or sit and talk with their friends.

"Did you get a copy of that song from Kelsey?" Sharpay asks once Ryan walks over to her.

"No." Ryan denies, before continuing. "But I'm taking her to prom."

Sharpay gasps, stunned. "Brilliant! Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Now get me that duet."

"Uh... Sharpay," Ryan begins, "you are not Y/N."

"Zzztt!" Sharpay cuts him off, "Don't be so sure."
