< Harry's POV >
The car journey back to the station was fairly quiet, the odd noise from our radios but apart from that, nothing. Louis had opted to stay quiet as it was just myself and Liam in the vehicle with him, he knew to wait for his lawyers before he said anything. The drive was no more than 10 minutes when we pulled into the station's car park, I checked that the pathway to the main doors was clear and Liam got out and walked round to get Louis out of the back of our car.
"Come on then Your Grace, let's get this over and done with" Louis just ignored him and hopped out of the car
I could tell Liam was close to breaking point with Louis' smugness, he hates stuck up pricks as much as I do but as I'm more senior I felt the need to take over and walk with Louis to give him a break. Yeah sure, you just want to be close to him. I chose to ignore that comment from my subconscious, what does it know anyway
As Liam walked away towards the car currently pulling up with Louis' lawyers in, I grabbed onto his forearm and manoeuvred him towards the direction of the door
"Not even flexed you know"
I don't have time for this "You've just been arrested and you're making comments about your arms towards your arresting officer, don't you think that's a bit inappropriate?"
"Not really, no, especially if they are worth making comments about"
"Well you're not bigging yourself up are you" I laughed
"Why aren't you reciprocating?"
"Because I don't feel the need to extend comments about my muscles"
"You know what I mean detective, why aren't you playing the game?"
"And what game would that be Sir?" I understood perfectly what he was implying
"C'mon don't play dumb. Why aren't you playing?"
"It would be widely inappropriate, you're a suspect, I can't be seen flirting and reciprocating comments about your arm muscles"
We began to walk up the steps towards the doors of the station
"And what if I wasn't?"
"I don't follow"
As we progressed further up the steps we got closer and closer to the group of officers huddled up talking
Louis stopped on the second step from the top and turned his head back towards me "And what if I wasn't a suspect?"
I was taken aback, I went to open my mouth to speak before I felt a hand on my shoulder
"Let's do this then" Liam said as he moved past me and Louis, we all walked quietly into the station. We were quick to get Louis booked into custody and into an interview room to have a few quiet words with his brief before we went all out on him. Liam and I stood outside having a conversation before going in
"What'd you think?"
"Huh? Sorry" Liam broke me out of my trance
"Wow mate, you were really in your own little world. I asked what'd you think?"
"Oh, about what?"
Liam just shook his head at me "About this guy, got any gut feelings yet?"
I was too busy thinking to answer Liams questions let alone pose theories "Nope, no feelings yet"
"Well, how are we approaching this one?" UGH more questions
"I don't know, the evidence we have is only circumstantial, he doesn't even know that much. We go in there and call his bluff, act as if we have watertight evidence, see if he caves, just don't actually imply anything, just let him take the vibe"
