They had been riding for two days before they finally reached the shimmering castle. All the snow had melted away but the windows still had a layer of frost covering them.
"Clarke you could have gotten yourself killed."Echo screamed with fury, and something else in her voice, worry?
Clarke hopped down from her impressive white horse and met Echo behind the gate.
"You were worrying about me?"Clarke laughed amazed at the woman who she had once hated but somehow became her only friend in ice nation besides Roan and Tim, if she could consider the seven year old who she'd only spent a couple hours with a friend.
Echo only grained in response and turned to greet roan who was also coming through the gates.
It was nighttime, the stars in the sky sparkled over the mountains. Most people were awake to greet the king home.
Clarke and Roan headed upstairs and started to walk their separate ways down the hall until they both felt a strange pull to the other. Like they needed each other and maybe they did.
All it took was a glance at the other to know they both wanted the same thing. To be together, they needed each other now more than ever with everything that had happened.
Roan's hand met Clarke's as they walked towards his room further down the hall away from the other rooms in the castle. Her fingers were cold against his warm palms.
They reached the gold plaited door that was more magnificent looking than any other door in the castle. The handle was a large crystal that had to be real seeming it had survived all this time.
It was like a princess room and though Clarke had seen the room before she had never taken in the beauty in the features of it.
They both three of their armor and muddy clothes, it was to late for a shower so they stumbled into bed. The lavender smelling sheets soon took away the looming smell of blood on their skin.
"Goodnight roan."Clarke mumbled softly as she nuzzled into his side, they both fell asleep rather quickly.
Clarke had found that whenever she slept in the same room as roan she didn't have any nightmares. Maybe it was just a coincidence but maybe it was that she felt safe within the kings arms.
A cool breeze made its self into the large room through the cracks in the old bricks that hadn't been covered up with tapestry's and paintings.
Roan pulled Clarke closer to him as he felt her shiver under his arms from the cold winter air.
Soon the winter air would be replaced with the hot summer breeze, luckily in Azgeda it didn't get as hot in polis where people struggled to sleep from the constant heatwaves.
Maybe with the technology and engineer's from skycrew they could begin to build fans or cooling systems again.
The sun started to rise through the twelfth clans and slowly everyone was waking up. Clarke was already in the dining hall eating breakfast, the guilt she had from Mount weather hadn't disappeared and maybe it never would. But it dawned on her not eating wasn't the way to deal with her demons.
"Hello miss."Tim's happy voice echoed through the beautiful hall.
Clarke smiled at the small boy who had just walked in beside her. His hair was a knotty mess and he was still in a matching set of pajamas.
"Tim it's good to see you please join me."
Tim hopped up into the seat beside Clarke where Roan would normally sit. Clarke grabbed him a glazed clay bowl and scooped berries into it.
