Nothing could possibly describe what I felt at this moment, it was like getting stabbed in the chest, but at the same time it feels like you're completely motionless.
The door was kicked open. I'm not quite sure how to describe what was gping through my head, I felt like I wasn't myself. I felt as if something else was controlling me, and I had to just sit and watch.
"Are you sure he's in here?"
"Yes i'm sure! I watched him walk right in here."
"Okay, you check the bedroom over there while I search the kitchen"
They both nodded and continued to their allocated areas. I jumped up onto the cupboard by the door and lay completely still, I heard the door slowly creak open. I reached into my pocket and grabbed a knife, and then in the other a gun. What the fuck? Since when did I have these? I guess even though I couldn't do anything about it, I had no choice. The man entered the room, he was carrying a shotgun, one that looked fully loaded. The other guy must have one too. He looked around slowly, I stared at him as he looked over Eve's body, he laughed a little. I don't know what I was going through but his laugh triggered something inside of me, something along the lines of a demonic killing machine. He started to walk out. I went to attack but was stopped from pain. I looked at my chest, shit. There was blood everywhere. I tried to keep it all in one spot......
A single drop of blood fell off the cupboard and onto the man's head. He tried wiping it off until he saw what it was, he looked up at me. I couldn't feel anything. My entire body was numb, no sense of feel or anything. I jumped behind him.
"JACK!" He screamed. I didn't bite him, I grabbed him and slit his throat.
"Lucas?"
The other man was near. I kept his body in front of mine and put my gun against his hip, barely visible.
"Lucas! You okay? Where are yo-" he looked at me with a death stare
"LUCAS!" He pointed his gun at me. I fired instantly, 4 bullets. 3 in the chest and one in the forehead. I dropped Lucas's body and walked over to the other man. He didn't seem like much of a threat, without the shotgun of course. I picked up the shotgun and a strap to place it on. I put the handgun back in my pocket and cleaned the knife. I walked back into the bedroom and picked up the note.
Hello Jake,
You may not remember me, but I certainly remember you. I don't plan on letting you live much longer, I have two men on the way. Of course, that's not how I plan to kill you.
As you may have noticed, I have taken Skye and merely spared Eve. She'll live, for now. Skye however, she's on a death sentence, all because of you. Such a shame, oh well. She has 72 hours. You can come find me and we can make arrangements, or she dies. Your choice. Just remember, your time is running out...I dropped the note and stood in shock for a moment. It was hopeless...I didn't have enough time, fuck, I don't even know who this sicko is! How the hell am I meant to find him in 72 hours?!
I heard Eve coughing. "EVE!" I ran over to her. "Eve! Are you okay?" She slowly opened her eyes and looked at me for a second "ugh...Jake...?" she coughed up some blood. "Come on, let's get you cleaned up." I took her to the bathroom where it wasn't a bloodbath. I found her some clean clothes and gave them to her. She was very disoriented. I grabbed a wet towel and wiped her face, arms and legs clean of blood. "I'll leave you to get changed." I left the room and closed the door. I sat down for a moment on a chair in the main room. Although I was scares for Skye and desperately wanting to help her, my thoughts were mainly focused on who this psychopath could be. I don't have many outside friends or enemies, I couldn't seem to put my finger on it. A few moments later Eve came out. She looked decent enough. I tried healing her cuts and bruises as much as possible but only time could heal it properly. Thankfully, very minimal injury was shown, most were hidden underneath her corset type shirt with a zip at the back, and her shorts.
"w-we need to find her....now."
"I know. She's in trouble, but don't worry. We'll find her. I promise"
A consistent voice at the back of my head was telling me I couldn't keep that promise. My thoughts were filled with doubt, although it didn't seem to affect her. She was confident we would save her.
"Come on, let's go. I have a car out front." I agreed and she smiled at me. It was the same smile from when we first met, that cheerful, hope filled, happy looking smile. I never understood how she could do that while her best friend was under a death sentence and she's risking her life for her, but I guess we need to have hope.
