"Hi, mom." San breathed out before he felt a pair of arms hug him.
The touch felt familiar, but in a nostalgic kind of way. San hadn't seen his mother since Hwayoung was born. She didn't come to the hospital when she was born and never had any interest of visiting the two when she was growing up.
After a few minutes of silence, San's mother invited all of them inside for dinner. Wooyoung and San took their seats next to each other and Hwayoung was seated on the end of the table.
"It's very nice to meet you, Wooyoung. I've heard a lot about you. Jongho mentioned that you make San very happy." San's mother started as she placed the bread rolls in the middle of the table, along with the fresh pasta.
"Mom—" San tried, but Wooyoung placed a hand on the older's thigh gently.
"It's okay, baby." He whispered, making San nod slightly.
"Yes, that's true. I actually proposed to him not that long ago. We are about to start planning our wedding." Wooyoung announced and saw a small smile spread across his mother-in-law's face.
"Oh, really?" She asked and San let out a small sigh, already knowing where this would lead to.
"Mom, please stop. I don't need you to do this here." San interrupted and she scoffed.
"Do what? I'm just asking your fiancé a few questions." She replied simply, taking a sip of her water.
"Well if you really want to know everything about my life you should've stuck around longer." San spat at her and Hwayoung looked over at Wooyoung with her puppy eyes.
"If you didn't have a child at 18 then it would've been different!" His mother yelled and Wooyoung's eyes widened a bit.
The younger male went over to Hwayoung and whispered into her ear, "Come on, baby. Let's go upstairs to appa's old room, okay?" He said, picking her up.
"What's going on, daddy?" She asked, her voice soft.
"Don't worry, sweetie. It'll be okay. I'll tell you later." He told her, his voice calm.
She nodded and trusted him, having him take her upstairs and to San's old room.
"You think I wanted to be a teenage father? I never asked for any of this! I didn't expect you to be a hundred percent supportive of Hwayoung, but I at least expected you to learn how to love her! And even though I didn't ask for any of this to happen to me, I have cherished Hwayoung since she was born. Yes, she was unexpected and not planned, but I don't care. She may not be blood related to me, but I still treat and love her as my own!" San fought back and his mother went speechless.
"S-she isn't your actual daughter?" His mother asked and San shook his head.
"If you were willingly to stay in my life longer, then you would know the entire story. And just so you know, there was a reason I didn't tell you about Wooyoung. You didn't accept Hwayoung, so I didn't think you would accept me being bisexual either. I finally found someone that I love and he loves me just as much as I love him. We are so happy together, mom. And I'm sorry, but if you can't accept that, then I don't want to see you again." San told, his voice becoming hoarse from all of the yelling he had done.
"Get out of my house." San's mother said softly and he nodded, going upstairs to get Wooyoung and his daughter.
The three gathered their coats and started to walk out the door and back into the car.
"Oh, and just so you know, I'm adopting another baby. Bye." San said lastly before shutting the door behind him, getting into the car in the drivers seat.
He sat there for a moment in silence, thinking about what had just happened.
"San, are you okay?" Wooyoung asked softly and San shook his head, tears filling in his eyes, threatening to spill out.
"I'll tell you when we get home, Woo." San managed to say and the younger nodded, rubbing the back of San's hand with his thumb gently.
-
Wooyoung was helping Hwayoung undo her hair as San was cleaning up the house a bit.
"Daddy..." Hwayoung spoke softly.
"Yes, sweet pea?" Wooyoung asked and she let out a sad sigh.
"Did appa not want me?" She asked and Wooyoung froze for a second before turning her around to face him.
She was sitting on the bathroom sink, looking into Wooyoung's eyes.
"Why do you say that, baby?" He asked and she shrugged, tears starting to stream down her pink little cheeks.
"I heard him yelling earlier..and it sounded like h-he didn't w-want me..." She cried and Wooyoung shook his head, wrapping his arms around her in a warming hug.
"No baby, no. That's not what happened. Appa just wasn't expecting you. But when you came into his life, you made him so happy. He was all alone before you came. But when you arrived, you made him smile so much. We both cherish you with our entire lives, okay? So don't ever think that we don't." Wooyoung told her, wiping her tears with his thumb gently.
Hwayoung sniffed and nodded, wiping her nose and cheeks with a tissue.
"I love you, daddy Wooyoung." She told him as she sniffed and Wooyoung smiled.
"I love you too, Hwayoung."
-
San threw on a t-shirt and some shorts as he got ready for bed, crawling in next to Wooyoung.
The older wrapped his arms around him, making the younger smile happily.
"I love you so much, Sannie." Wooyoung told him, making a smile spread on his face.
"I love you more, Woo. You always make me smile, even when I feel sad. Thank you for always being here for me. My mom and I used to have a great relationship before Hwayoung was born, but afterwards everything changed. She has never been accepting of Hwayoung. I just think that maybe..." San took a breath, "Maybe it's better that she isn't in her life. She doesn't need that kind of negativity at such a young age." San explained and Wooyoung nodded, stroking his fiancé's hair softly.
"Just do whatever you feel is best, okay? I'll always be here to support you in your decisions and to help guide you." Wooyoung told him.
"Thank you, Woo." San thanked him, kissing his lips softly.
The younger kissed back before pulling away, looking into San's eyes.
"You're welcome, Sannie."
