It was now a week after Kara's first day of her senior year. She saw that Kevin attended several classes with her, specifically cooking class and physical education. Through observance, Kara noticed Kevin was indeed a good cook, and he was athletic. Sometimes Kara would blush when she saw Kevin lift weights or do sit-ups/crunches. One day, Kara was at the library when she saw Kevin on the computer. She noticed he was looking up people like Black Canary, Helena Bernitelli, Wally West, Roy Harper, Arthur Curry, Artemis Crock, John Jones, Megan Morse, and some mystery person named Mera. All of these searches caught Kara's interest. "Why would Kevin search all of these people?" Kara thought, "who are they anyway?" These questions were put aside when Kara got a text from Barbara.
"Hey Kara, you want to hang out at the lair at Sweet Justice after school? I got something cool I want to show you. 😀" The text said. Kara shrugged and texted back, "sure. See you after school, Babs." Kara then went to her locker and got her stuff. Hours later, the bell rang and school was out. Kara met up with Babs and they walked to Sweet Justice. "I so can't wait to show you what I've done!" Babs said excitedly. "Did you create a new invention?" Kara asked, smirking. Barbara was by now a huge computer expert. "Maybe," said Babs as she winked at her friend. Soon they made it to the hideout lair below Sweet Justice. Kara noticed Barbara's fingernails were black and purple. "Did you paint your nails?" Kara asked, surprised. "Yeah, Zee helped me paint them yesterday," confirmed Barbara, "she even painted my toenails. But that's not what I want to show you. Check this out!" She opened her backpack and revealed a new suit. Her bat cowl was now black instead of purple. Her cape was now a darker purple with yellow on the inside, and her bodysuit was now black instead of purple. And she got a new yellow bat symbol. Kara looked in amazement and said, "whoa... that is awesome Barbara!"
"I know, right?" Barbara agreed excitedly. "Have you shown Diana, Jessica, Karen, and Zee?" Kara asked. "No, that's why I wanted you to be the first to see it," said Barbara, "you want to see me suit up?" Kara nodded excitedly. Barbara got out her new suit and then went to a private area to change her clothes. Two minutes later, Barbara got out of her private area and revealed her new costume as Batgirl. "What do you think of the new and improved Batgirl, Kara?" Babs asked, taking off her mask. "It's way cooler," said Kara, "definitely suits you. The rest of the girls are going to love it." She gave an approving thumbs up. Barbara smiled enthusiastically and said, "thanks Kara! I knew I could count on you." The two friends then decided to hang out at the lair. As Kara lifted her weights she asked, "hey Barbara, have you ever heard of Black Canary?" As Barbara worked on another one of her inventions, she said, "yeah, I have. Aside from Batman, Black Canary has always been one of my role models when I was a little girl. I'm a big fan of her too." She smiled, thinking about her childhood memories regarding the blonde bombshell. "I saw that new guy Kevin Beaumont at the school library today looking up Black Canary and other people I've never heard of," said Kara, "and he was oddly specific about his searches..." Barbara gave a pondering look and said, "interesting..." She then gave a sly smile and said, "you like him, don't you?" Kara blushed and said, "yes... is it that obvious? I honestly never thought I would feel the way Diana felt when she met Steve." She nervously rubbed her shoulder. "What's stopping you from asking him out?" Babs asked. "What if he doesn't like me?" Kara shyly asked, "plus, I'm an alien from another planet, Barbara. And I'm Supergirl to boot! What if that's all just too much for him?" Babs gave Kara a gentle pat on the shoulder and said, "you won't know that he doesn't like you unless you find out for yourself." It was food for thought for Kara.
