I wake up the next morning, to the awful sound of my alarm, fully aware that today is probably going to be the same as yesterday. So I get up and do my morning routine and head downstairs for breakfast. "Oh look who's up On-Time today," My mother says adding emphasis on the on-time part. "Yeah, I'm here," I say, "Who is taking me to school today?" "I am," She says "but first you need to eat something" "Ok," I say. I'm just happy I don't have to suffer through another long awkward ride with crystal, Well at least not today. I finish breakfast and quickly get my bag and other stuff that I need for school. "Are you ready to go?" My mother asks. "Yeah, I have everything I need," I say as I'm walking to the car. "Ok" We get in the car and start on the way to school. "Oh I heard you were having problems with Ivy and her friends yesterday," She says. "Yeah, they were being jerks like normal," I say, really not wanting to bring this up. "Oh. ok. Well don't worry about them, ok, they are just bullies." "I know" We drive the rest of the way in silence, I was hoping she wouldn't find out. I know she just wants me to find my element so I can be happy and normal like everyone else. When we get to school, I say goodbye and head off to find my friends by our first class. I see Violet as I'm walking up but she doesn't notice me so I decide to sneak up behind her. "Boo," I say right behind her. I can see her jump. I knew she wasn't paying attention. "Hey! Why did you do that!" she says as I'm laughing. "Because I knew I could get you," I say, still dying of laughter. "You act like a child, You know that right." She says still kinda pissed. "I know, but you still love me," I say smiling, putting on the most innocent look possible. "More like put up with you" "Oww, that's not very nice," I say as I pout. "Ugh, whatever, I can't stay mad at you," She says. "Oh look, It's Kylie and Kayden" "Hey!!" Kylie says. "Hi, Kylie," I say "hi Kayden" "Hey," Kayden says.
Just as we were about to continue the conversation the bell rings. As we are going inside I see Alice sprinting towards the door. I thought about being mean and shutting it just to mess with her but I decided to hold it open for her "Thanks" she says clearly out of breath from running. "You are welcome" I whisper as we find our seats. The day continues like normal, we go to our first four classes. Violet seems off at lunch again but I leave it. She doesn't want to talk about it and I trust her. I just wish she would trust me enough to tell me. Soon it's the end of the day. I get a ride home with my mom today. "Hey, are you ok?" She asks. "Yeah I'm fine I'm just worried about Violet," I say "Oh?" she says in a calm but pleading tone as if to invite me to say more. "Yeah I know it's probably nothing it's just today and yesterday when she came out of Biology she seemed off and she insisted it was nothing I just want to know what she is hiding from me but I don't want to intrude too much," I say I don't even mean to say it but everything just comes out I guess I was more worried about it than I thought. "Ok well my advice is to give her a bit of time but if this continues you can always ask her what's going on you two are best friends and she wouldn't hide anything from you without good reason it could very well be she just doesn't know how to approach it with you so just be calm and reasonable about it, ok?" She says her voice is very calm and still but comforting. It makes me feel a little better, I mean she's right Violet is my best friend and she would never purposely hurt me whatever is going to work itself out. "You're right, Thanks mom," I say a bit more relieved. "I'm here to help," she says with a smile, we ride the rest of the way home in a comfortable silence giving us both time to think over the conversation we just had.
Violet's POV I walk into biology dreading the class yet to come knowing I'm going to have to sit next to the queen of terrors herself. "Hey, Violet, nice to see you," Ivy says with an almost genuine smile that weirds me out. She is never happy to see me, what is she planning? "Look, I'm sorry if I came off rude yesterday I may think that your friends are losers but I can't force you to stop hanging out with them," She says but it's obvious this is a forced apology but I let her continue, "Anyways, I really do want to get along with you so because I respect you I will stop bringing up your friends in this class" She puts extra emphasis on the words "you" and "this class" in that sentence. Which I guess is better than nothing but I hope she doesn't expect me to be her friend. "Ok Thanks for apologizing," I say to avoid arguing. "Look I know I may be a bully but I do genuinely want to be your friend," she says again with an unnecessary emphasis on the word "your" but its whatever I guess, "So if you ever change your mind you can just come up to me" Yeah like that's gonna happen I think to myself as I am about to say that won't happen our teacher comes in to start class. The class goes by really quickly, it is still pretty awkward as we are both trying to pretend the other person doesn't exist. Class ends and I am about to rush off when I hear Ivy call out to me "Violet why are you rushing off don't you want to walk together" she asks innocently as if she doesn't bully me and my friends relentlessly. "No thanks," I say "Honestly I don't want my friends to see me with you no offense we can be friends in here but outside of this class let's just leave things at where they originally were" I know I was being harsh but honestly she deserved it I can't believe she had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to walk to lunch with her. I rush off to lunch, I'm still thinking about this as I walk to lunch. I know Olivia can sense something is off and I instantly feel bad that I haven't told her about Ivy yet I just don't want her to worry. I know she can get jealous sometimes and I don't want her to get in trouble. I decide to stop thinking about this and join my friend's conversation. The rest of the day goes by quite well and then soon it is time to go home. I get in my mom's car and she knows something is wrong "what's wrong sweetie?" she asks. I was hoping she wouldn't ask, "Oh just the usual, I'm having problems with Ivy again." I say not wanting to go into detail. I know her and Olivia's mom are close and I don't want Olivia to find out about Ivy unless I'm the one telling her. "Ok," She says I know she wants to know more but I don't want to tell her. "Is there anything in particular?" she asks. "No, I just hate the way she treats Olivia, you know," I say, Olivia is amazing and will do great things when she figures herself out. I just wish everyone could see that. "Yeah I know you do, but Olivia is strong and can handle it just remember to be there for her because she needs you and you may be a rank 2 but don't discredit Olivia's abilities, Ok?" She says I know what she means. She is worried I will let the fact that I am a powerful rank I will leave Olivia behind which I would never do. "I know mom, but thank you," I say. This shuts down the conversation we drive home. I spend the rest of the day thinking about Ivy and Olivia wondering what I should do. I know Olivia will do amazing things if given the chance. I just have a feeling and it gets stronger every day. I feel like she is really close to figuring herself out. But who knows I guess.
