Willow's POV

I woke up to the sound of arguing outside in the hall. There was then a knocking on the door. Jacey growled softly. "Careful handsome, don't need you roasting whoever is on the other side," I said as he let me out of the cocoon I very much enjoy sleeping in, to put on some clothes. You're the one who breathes fire beautiful. If anyone roasts them, it would be you, He said in our mind link.

I gave him a smirk before opening the door. On the other side was Brooke. "What do you want," I asked her while crossing my arms. "I tried to tell you it was your funeral," Addy said from the end of the hall. "I can't believe he actually mated with you," Brooke said and I wasn't in the mood. "You really need to tread lightly," I told her with a warning growl. "What are you even doing here?" "I don't have to answer to you," she said with a sneer. We then had a stare down.

"Brooke," I heard Desiree say from the end of the hall. "What," Brooke said. "You know better than to provoke someone just after they've mated," Desiree said, not daring to come closer. "She's just a wolf," Brooke said as she looked me over with a scoff. "And you're just a lizard with too much bark," I said coldly. She stepped forward with a growl, "Excuse me?"

"The guys need to stop being scared and grab Brooke," Addy said to Desiree. "Jacey is clearly staying in his dragon form since the door is open, knowing it would be Brooke's death if he shifted and she saw something she shouldn't." "I'm aware," Desiree said. "They fear they will pay the price for it later." "And if they do, oh well. Better than the tribe leader's daughter getting killed," Addy said. "The fact Willow hasn't put her in the wall yet, is amazing."

I felt a soft wind caress my legs, and I knew this wind was controlled by Jacey. Come back to bed beautiful, she isn't worth it. I will gladly help you work off that anger, Jacey coaxed. I felt the wind wrap around my upper thigh, and I gave in.

I gave Brooke a smirk, "If you'll excuse me, I have a dragon to go enjoy in every way possible." I shut the door and locked it. I turned to face Jacey and watched as he shifted. He stood before me completely naked, and I had the need to claim him again and he was eager to let me as he kissed me.

We made love for a couple of hours before we were sated enough to go get us something to eat. Unfortunately the kitchen in our room wasn't stocked so we had to venture out to the main living area. I wore his sweat shirt and a pair of pajama bottoms. He wore a shirt and sweats. He had warned his family members in the family mind link to allow them to become sparse if they wish to avoid any issues. It would be a day or two before we were safe to approach once the mating frenzy was over, but then I would be going into heat not long after. If I was lucky, I won't be like my mother. She struggled to get pregnant due her womb being weak. It was a natural defect of sorts that was passed down on her side of the family, but not every female suffered from it, sometimes they took after their father's side which allowed them to easily carry. It was why my brothers and I have almost forty nine years difference in age.

Jacey started the coffee maker while I began to look around the kitchen, trying to think of what I wanted to eat. I heard my phone ringing, and I was tempted to leave it be, but something told me to go answer it.

I didn't recognize the number, "Hello?" "Willow," Kalley, one of the warriors I grew up with said. "Hey Kalley," I said. "Willow," she said then sniffled. "We were attacked last night." I felt my heart clench. "What," I said, swallowing hard. "A group of Vir bears attacked us, guns firing at us," she said. I felt like I was going to be sick. "How many," I asked her. "Half the pack," she said and I wanted this to be a sick nightmare. "What's wrong," Jacey said, having felt my devastation through our bond. "My pack was attacked last night," I said my eyes filling with tears and his eyes widened slightly. He left the room to probably go and inform his parents.

"Where is the Alpha and Luna," I asked Kalley. "They're among the ones we lost," she said. "You're all we've got left Willow." "Who all is among the fallen," I asked her. "Most of the teens and pups were in the shelter so it's only adults that we lost," she said then she began to list them off. Then she seemed hesitant, "And your mother." My world spun. "Has it been reported to the council," I asked her. "No. We wanted to contact you first since you're our Alpha," she said to me. I nodded, "Okay. I did complete my mating, meaning I am now a permanent resident here at the Solaris temple." "We know," she said. "Your brothers felt the addition of your mate get added to the family link. We have all accepted to relocate, not wanting to be where so much has happened." I nodded even though she can't see me, "I will discuss this with the Solaris Tribe. I am too close to my heat to be able to fly so I will have to make your arrangements from here." I gave her my email so everything of importance can be emailed to me.

I then hung up and walked on numb legs where everyone that was part of the tribe was waiting for me. "We lost half the pack," I informed them. "Among the fallen are the Alpha and Luna, meaning Jacey and I have gone up in rank. I am now Alpha and he is now the Luna. They understand that because he and I are now mated, this is our home. They've already decided they want to relocate to here, to get away from the home that has become a battlefield. It was a group of Vir bears that just went there and began firing. They were bloodthirsty and didn't care who they killed. Luckily no children were hurt, but many were left orphaned. Only adults were among the fallen." Anger began to course through me, and I wanted to hit something. This feud has gone to damn far.

Desiree nodded, "We'll begin to make preparations." "I'll inform the chief," Red said with a nod. After discussing more things, Jacey and I went back to the room. "Who did you loose Willow," he asked me softly. "My mom," I said my voice cracking as tears burned my eyes. "This damn feud took both of my parents from me." I couldn't muster the anger I felt, couldn't raise my voice over normal talking level as my throat tightened. He pulled me to him, and I broke. My legs gave up, no longer able to support my weight. He fell to his knees with me, not letting me go. His grip was tight and it was what I needed. I cried till they were nothing but hiccups. He cupped my face, his thumbs brushing away my tears, and I saw that he had been crying silently with me. He kissed my forehead, "We will get through this." I nodded, trusting him. "We have to be strong," I said softly. We stayed like that for a little longer before I felt exhaustion settle in. I laid down and let sleep take me away.

Jacey's POV

I covered Willow with the blanket, my heart crying out for my mate. I left the room and found it was now only my family in the main living space. "Did we loose anyone," my father asked me. The we, was meaning our family, claiming Willow's mother and brothers as part of our family. I looked at the floor as I informed them Willow's mother perished in the attack. "How is Willow handling the news," Percilia asked me. "She cried till she tired herself out. She's now asleep," I answered. "What did the chief say?" "He is on his way," my dad answered. "He wants to be here when they arrive. They're now officially members of the tribe now that you two are the pack leaders. He says that the three of you will discuss how it will work, because he doesn't want to over step your ranks." I nodded, "Okay." "We have their transportation set up," my mother said, her eyes filled with tears that she was trying to contain. "We have some preparations to make, but we will be ready by the time they get here."

"How are you doing Jacey," Shade asked me. "I want to hunt those bastards down," I growled. "But I'm not going too because of what Willow said to me after her attack." "And that is," Addy whispered. "I wanted to hate all who take part in this feud," I said to them. "She told me this feud is fueled by hatred. It will only create another branch, and teach our children to hate. We can hate those responsible for the acts themselves, but we can't hate everyone. There is no room for happiness if you live that way. It is because I want my family to know happiness that I won't let that hatred exist within myself." No doubt Willow will hate for a bit, but I will help her become happy once more. I just hope no more bloodshed happens before then.
