I spent the weekend in the Gryffindor common room with my large group of friends, plus Lee Jordan, who had been spending more time with the six of us. We mostly just played games, and listened to music on a record player that had been conjured up by one of the older Gryffindor students. Saturday night, we decided to have a karaoke concert, and I was the judge, naturally.
"Okay, so. Who wants to go first?" I asked.
"I'll go!" Lavender exclaimed with a huge smile on her face.
"What song do you want?"
"What are my options?"
"Hmmmmmm. We have Olivia Newton-John, ABBA, Juice Newton, Modern English, Jim Croce, Warren Zevon, or Boney M."
"Let's do ABBA. Do we have Dancing Queen?"
"Yup." I took the record out of its case and placed it on the player. I bewitched it so it would only play the music and not the words, then made the lyrics appear right in front of her, so only she could see them. "You ready?"
"Yeah." She grabbed her wand, "wait!"
She walked back over to one of the tables and grabbed her bottle of butterbeer, chugging it until nothing was left.
"Now I'm ready."
I turned on the music, and she stuck her wand to her neck. After a few seconds of silence, she began to sing.
"You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life. OoOoooo. See that girl, watch that scene, digging the dancing queen!"
She paused again, waiting for the next verse to start. Her voice was very melodic, and she was an amazing singer. Sort of what you'd expect from her.
"She's not too bad." I turned to see Fred sitting down next to me, holding out a bottle of butterbeer.
"Yeah, she's kind of good." I take the bottle from his hand. "Thanks" I grab my wand and open the bottle with a charm. "I bet she's better than you."
"Me?" He puts a hand to his chest and looks slightly taken aback. "Of course, I'm an amazing singer."
"Okay, then your next."
He pauses for a moment, looks over at the records, then, "okay."
I sip on my butterbeer, watching Lavender finish up her song, and we clap. Fred stands up and looks through the stand of records, grabbing one and putting it on the player.
The music begins to play, and I look up at him as I realize what song it is.
"Fred- no."
He just grins.
"Fredrick. Gideon. Weasley. Not this song."
"Oo, full name." Lee grins from the wall where he is standing with Katie, bottles in their hands. "You're in big trouble now, Freddie."
George laughs from the armchair to my right as he realizes as well.
"Valerie. Regula. Potter. Yes, this song." He looks in my eyes with a smirk on his face.
By now, we're 30 or so seconds into the song and he has yet to sing anything.
But then he starts, "Been sleeping on bunk beds, since ten. So if I don't booze it, I'm gonna lose it. Everybody get to it, do it, get ruined." He moves around the room, getting everybody to get up and dance. "Let's get this party started, let's keep them 40's poppin, so just get buzzed and stay fucked up, we'll keep them panties droppin'"
I glare at him as he repeats the verse.
"When I start drinking, my dick does all my thinking. Hoes want to be seen with me."
