Rafe Sadler one shots

New Dress

I smiled as I sat outside scrubbing the various laundry from the household scrubbing it up and down my washboard as I sat out in the garden among the grass and flowers so any water I spilled or lost ended up in the flower beds. The big bucket sat on the grass, with my washboard sat in the bucket surrounded by bubbles, My lines all hung up around the garden with all the clothes hung around them. I finished up with this dress and got up hanging it up on the line and heading back again and continuing with my washing I kept hearing something behind me which puzzled me, I could hear steps but whenever I looked know one was there so I shrugged it off and continued with my work.

When suddenly my vision went dark and I felt hands over my eyes

"wh-what's going on!" I complained

"Guess who?" A voice laughed behind me

"... whoever you are! I highly protest! Get off of me!"

"No. Guess again"

"Rafe what do you want?" I sighed

"Can't I be cute and romantic?" Rafe complained as he let me see and came to sit beside me

"You can, just don't disturb my work" I warn him jabbing his chest before returning to my work "what is it?"

"what day is it?"

"Tuesday Rafe, I am not a calendar"

"what date is it?"

"I am not a calendar"

"Just answer the damn question darling"

"The fourteenth why?"

"which makes it?"

"Valentines why?"

"So, Do you want your present?"

"Rafe you didn't have to get me a present,"

"I thought you liked valentines? given... your... spookiness"

"You mean me being a pagan?"

"Yes." he shrugs "You do go in for all the pagan holidays... usually"

"I do, but its more a celebration for married couples Rafe, and we aren't married" I giggled

"Well we will be, as soon as we have enough money for our own house darling" he reassured giving me a kiss "I wouldn't feel right marrying you until we had a nice house to live in"

"I know Rafe" I smiled "I don't mind waiting"

"Well, would you like your present anyway?" He asks

"I would" I blushed drying my hands on my apron

"shut your eyes my darling" He cooes so I nodded and shut my eyes covering my eyes with my hands and he gave me a little kiss so I opened my eyes and saw him holding a beautiful blue and purple dress making me gasp

"Rafe! you shouldn't its must to expensive"

"Shhhh" He smiled putting his finger on my mouth to stop me talking "I saved up a little for you, you've been wearing those little grey and brown patch work dresses since I met you, I wanted to give you a nice dress, for parties and... our wedding someday soon"

"Ohh Rafe, thank you" I smiled hugging him tightly and giving him a kiss

"You're welcome my darling" He smiled hugging me tightly too
