It's been a week since Naye's appointment and she is currently at school and I'm stuck in the office. My phone rang as I answered a clients email and I didn't recognize the number but I answered anyway. "Keabetswe Mkhize, hello," I answered as I read another email. "Hi Keabetswe it's Doctor Thwala, Mark Thwala," the voice replied and I sat up. "Doc hi, is there something wrong," I asked more intrigued than worried. "Uhm no, I was just wondering if you would like to meet up for a bite to eat?" Mark said and I raised my eyebrows. "Uhm, why not," I said and face palmed myself. You are not supposed to give in that easily. "So when?" Mark asked. "You could come over to have dinner with Naye and I," I suggested. This was deliberate. I wanted him to know Naye came first in my life and I wasn't going to neglect her over some 30 something year old sexy doctor. "Sure, when?" he asked sounding a little disappointed. "How's tonight for you?" I asked. "It's perfect," he replied and we talked a little before I hung up. Dinner with the doctor tonight.

The doorbell rang and I smoothed down my nude bodycon dress and checked my lip gloss one last time.

"Doc, hi," I said as I answered the door. "Good evening Keabetswe, and please, call me Mark," Mark replied as he gave me a bouquet of flower. I smiled and took the flowers before letting him in. I showed him to the dinner table where the food was already set and he greeted Naye who seemed quite enthusiastic to see him. We all had dinner and Mark and I spoke mostly about Naye, with occasional questions about me. At 21:00 I told Naye to go get ready for bed and asked Busi, our helper/nanny to help her. I poured Mark some whiskey and wine for myself before we settled on the couch. "So Kea, can we do this again soon?" Mark asked and I nodded. "Sure but perhaps without Naye," I said and laughed. Mark laughed as well then he smiled and once again, I smiled back. He leaned in and I leaned in as well, I could smell his cologne and a slight hint of whiskey. "Mommy I'm ready," Naye called from the top of the stairs and I jumped. Dammit child you couldn't even wait for at least 10 minutes. I put my glass down and went to her. I read her a bedtime story until she fell asleep then I went back to the living room but Mark was gone. My phone pinged from where I had left it on the coffee table and I opened a message.

Mark Thwala

Naye needed you so I saw my self out, hope we can do this again soon

I smiled and I contemplated replying but in the end I decided to leave him guessing...
