"I'm hungry Aoife."
"So am I but we'll have to find food tomorrow. It's dark now and we don't want to get lost do we?"
"No, but I'm cold as well."
"Luckily I can do something about that."
I lift Mackenzie onto my lap and let my wings unfold. I pull Mackenzie close and wrap my wings around her."
"Thank you Aoife."
"Come on Mack we have to run!"
I tug Mackenzies arm and we stumble away, crashes sound behind us as an invisible thing comes towards us. The ground shakes and the trees splinter and crash as we hurry away.
Mackenzie stumbles over and tree root and pulls me down with her. We fall into a heap, the crashes coming closer.
"Aoife, I can see it now."
Mackenzie and I crawl backwards away from the creature.
"Macks, what is that thing?"
She grips my wrist and my vision gets a lilac haze around it, but I can see the thing that's chasing us now. It gets closer and closer. I place Mackenzie behind me and spread my wings so that the thing can't get to her.
