Aoife's P.O.V
"Now that we've unpacked your stuff, should we see if the clothes we've changed work?"
"Not to be rude but where's my sister staying."
"She'll share a room with Claire. I'm surprised you didn't somehow know. Claire's so exited, she said it made her feel like the 'grown up girls' because they all get to share rooms."
I nod my head and force a smile at Almas words. I'm a little worried about being away from Mack but Claire seemed nice. I change in the bathroom and walk back into the main room looking around at it. It's plain and white with a window that overlooks the gardens, the bed is next to the window near the far end of the room, and there's a wardrobe to my left, opposite the window.
"It's not the biggest room ever, but you won't have to share."
I nod at Alma and watch as she stands up from the bed to join me.
"Why don't you try it?"
I roll my shoulders and watch the expression on the headmistress' face as I feel my wings appearing behind me, but it doesn't change. Infact the only thing that could be said to change is that a smile tugs at the corner of her lips. She's not repulsed. She lifts her hand and looks at me with a slightly curious gaze.
"May I."
I nod and close my eyes as I feel her long fingers comb through the feathers, preening them into place.
"I've heard of peculiarities where a peculiar can manifest wings at will but I've never seen anyone with it."
Her fingers move along the feathers and she stop when she gets closer to me, silently asking for permission before continuing.
"Are they full functional? Can you fly?"
"Yes."
"You'll have to join me one time."
"When you're... a...?"
"Bird? Yes. A peregrine falcon."
"Oh."
"Something wrong?"
Her fingers stop moving as worry creeps into her voice. I shrug as I mumble out an answer.
"No. I just remember seeing peregrine falcons back home when I was little, I never got to see them once we moved and he... I just never spotted one."
"Mm."
Her fingers start brushing though my feathers again and her breath heats my neck slightly as she leans next to me.
"We'll have to fix that then, won't we?"
She moves quickly away from me and towards the door, looking back a me and lifting an eyebrow with a playful smirk dancing on her face.
"Now?"
"Well a tour is desperately needed so we might as well."
I smile and follow her out the room.
"Ok."
So this is pretty short but an update was long overdue.
Hope you like the chapter.
