I had a plan to set into action. Not a single person knew of it though, and I meant to keep it that way. So I stayed quiet, minded my own business, and said as little as possible. Especially since the full moon is tomorrow night.
In study hall, the three boys go on about the lacrosse game they'd have to play in the rain tonight. My eyes flicker up at them from the table, making sure they weren't paying attention to me. Scott and Isaac lean in to listen to Stiles ramble on.
I tune them out, carefully tearing a chunk of paper from my notebook. I scrawl a little note on it before folding it up and shoving it in my pocket. That part comes later tonight. My heart raced a little bit, out of fear. I didn't run from it though.
Scott's eyes flickered at me for a moment, as if he knew something was up with me, but he kept listening to Stiles. I slide out of that one by a hair.
I breathe deeply before focusing on my homework to distract me. My friends couldn't know that anything was up.
"You're coming, aren't you Kasey?" Isaac asks me, and I look up at him from my books.
"Duh," I respond, catching on to the fact that they were still talking about the lacrosse game.
"I'll let Derek know, 'cause guess who's on the field tonight!" Stiles announces, slowly getting louder. That would mean all three of them off the bench for this game.
"I don't need a babysitter you know," I comment, hunched over my papers.
"No, what you need is glasses," Stiles points at me and purses his lips. I narrow my eyes at him, leaning away from my math book a little bit.
"Kasey, you shouldn't be alone. Especially at night," Isaac gives me a sorry look.
"At a lacrosse game, where there's going to be a whole lot of people?" I raise an eyebrow, wishing they would just go along with what I say.
"Hey, the dance had a whole lot of people and look what happened," of course Scott had to point that out. Shit.
I shrug, returning to my homework. So Derek would inevitably be there, and I'd probably have no time execute the first part of my plan. I had to find time in between.
I was packed and ready to take off as soon as the bell had dismissed us. I hurried, making sure I'd lose the boys in the process. I burst out the library door, and speed walk down the hall when students came pouring in.
I made it to my locker, successfully without anyone seeing or stopping me. I put my backpack away despite the homework packed in it- I wouldn't have to worry about it tomorrow. I peer around one last time for any familiar faces, reaching into my pocket for the folded piece of paper.
I slip past the crowds in the hallways, dodging for the front doors before the whole school leaked out.
The rain had ceased for the moment, leaving dark pools in the street and cement drying back to its light color. I spy my surroundings, searching and knowing, she was there. Somewhere... I felt her eyes on me, but I couldn't even grasp a scent.
I wait a moment to catch a sign, and then move on anyway. I take the folded paper from my pocket, and relax a little bit before tucking it under the lid of one of the outdoor trash cans, leaving just the corner of the paper sticking out. I take a step back, observing my surroundings again.
"There you are," Scott's voice reaches my ears, and I spot him, Lydia, and Allison coming from the building among the rest of the student body.
"You just disappeared there for minute," he nudges my shoulder.
