Having gotten no sleep at all, school the next day dragged out as long as it possibly could.
Scott barely seems affected, just a little weary that I could sense from him. Isaac was just the opposite, like me. He slouches back in his chair at the cafeteria people, head rolled back and listening tiredly to Stiles tell some story about a case his dad was working on.
After last night, Isaac and I ended up at Derek's, where he snoozed on the couch. Me, I couldn't fall asleep once the sun came up, and Derek had the coffee going, just like last time. So I drank my coffee and watched the sun rise from the large window in his loft. And then off to school I was. I couldn't wait to get this last year over with.
"It'll be your guy's turn soon," I prop my elbow on the cafeteria table, resting my head in my palm. Graduation had come up, and of course Lydia had something to say about it.
"Is your family going to throw you a graduation party?" She asks me.
I shrug, "I mean they'll probably do something for me but I don't think a party. We really don't know anybody and it's just us in the family."
Lydia gives me a wide grin, and I shake my head, knowing exactly what she was thinking. She always outdid herself with these things.
"What are you going to do after you graduate?" Stiles asks me, nudging my arm.
"I don't know yet. I wanted to leave, but that was before I knew all you guys. Plus I'm pretty bad at this whole werewolf thing, so I need you guys," I chuckle, exchanging glances with Isaac.
"Derek thinks you're getting better," Scott suddenly pipes up, and I see Allison's hidden excited face. I give her a disregarding look, and then shrug.
"It's obvious," Isaac pitches in. Just the phrase triggered my heart to start pounding, hanging there wondering if he was going to blurt out something about me or something about Derek.
"You've been practicing getting yourself under control," Isaac finishes his statement, eyeing me. Even after he said that, my heart still pounded in my chest, and I knew I'd been caught. Caught for what? All Isaac knew now was that I was guilty of something involving Derek. I totally gave myself away to the wolves. Not that Scott didn't already know what was going on, but it was a lot harder to hide my feelings now.
"Yeah, that's mostly what Derek's been doing is picking fights with me and working on control," I act like nothing had changed.
The bell saves me from the rest of the conversation, and I stand in a hurry, snatching my backpack and saying a quick goodbye to my friends. I squeeze through the crowds quickly and burst into the hallway. I needed just a little break before I'd have to see the three boys in gym.
I delve into the girls bathroom, taking the vacant first stall. The light directly above me had burnt out, leaving me in partial darkness. I concentrate on my breathing, and after a few minutes, my heart rate slowed. The late bell intrudes my moment of piece, screeching loudly causing me to jump. I sit with my head in my hands for just a few more moments, despite knowing I'd get yelled at by Finstock.
The hallway is empty by the time I decide to head to class. I yank open the door to the girls locker room, and the motion sensor lights kick on. I drop my backpack on the bench in front of the lockers, pulling my set of gym clothes out. I hastily change into them, dreading the thought of going out there now. I wondered if Isaac would say anything.
I had definitely called it when I said that Finstock would yell at me. The first thing I did was approach him to get it over with. I take the warning, giving nods and "yep"s to everything the coach scolded me about. I glance up to see Isaac standing with Scott and Stiles.
