"I wish this stupid weather would make up it's mind!" Gemma peeks out the curtains at the grey clouds rolling in.
"I think the rain is nice," I comment, gathering drinks for each of us to have with dinner. I place them on the coffee table, spacing them out towards where we would all sit in the living room.
Once a month, Louie makes a big special dinner for all of us and we take turns picking movies yo watlch each time. This time it was Gemma's turn.
"Don't pick something girly and dumb, Gem," Duke says to her, sprawled out on the couch.
"Mad Max, Mad Max," Fallon whisper cheered. I shake my head at him.
"No Mad Max!" Louie calls out from the kitchen. The warm scent of chicken enchiladas in the oven made my stomach grumble.
"Oh come on!"
"No, you guys pick that every time," I shake my head, scoffing at them.
"I've got one!" Gemma exclaims, pulling a movie case from inside the entertainment center. "Ghost!"
That earns groans and complaints from the twins. I grin and plop down on my end of the couch. Gemma looks to me, raising her eyebrows questioningly. I nod.
"Louie, how about Ghost?" She yells to him.
"Sounds good, Gem," he calls back.
"Three to two! Patrick Swayze it is!" Gemma chirps, smirking at the boys.
It was the middle of the school week, and I had cancelled today's training with Derek because Louie had this all planned for us today. That had been the first time I'd texted Derek after I was late for our run that morning. I stare at the two simple texts from earlier today.
Me: Hey I gotta take a rain check today, my brother has plans for us tonight.
Derek: Ok. Hope to see you soon.
What did he mean by that? Was he looking forward to seeing me? No, that wasn't Derek. Derek was cold, and distant. He probably meant for training, and that I needed a lot more of it. I wasn't good at this whole werewolf thing and I wasn't good at figuring these people out.
The movie began as Louie was bringing out steaming plates. I gratefully accept mine from him, and dig in right away.
It was hard to focus on the movie without thinking about all the things Allison and Lydia suspected. This Patrick Swayze romance didn't help, only prying at the idea in my brain.
Derek was out of the question. I knew that would never happen. Not that I wouldn't let it happen, but because I knew that he wouldn't. Derek was far out of my league.
I didn't know about Isaac. Yeah, I caught him staring once, but that didn't mean anything, and the random fast heartbeat that I heard a few times could have been anybody. It could have been Scott or Allison even, now that I think about it. Out of all of us they were the two that were actually together.
I let my head fall back on the couch dramatically. What the hell was happening to my life? I was already a completely different person now.
"You okay, Kasey?" Louie suddenly asks.
I lift my head wearily to look at him. "Yeah it's just... Patrick Swayze."
I gave an amused grin and he rolls his eyes.
I wish it was just Patrick Swayze. What more do I need to say?
I needed to talk to someone about it, but I knew that if I went to either one of the girls or my sister, they'd get excited and make a big deal. And they would squeal. That left me to think of anyone else. Almost immediately, I knew exactly who.
