"And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion."
(Surah Al Imran: Verse 185)In this verse, Allah Almighty is telling us the reality of this life. When we are indulged in the disobedience of Allah and we are really enjoying the present moment, we are actually ignoring the fact that this is nothing but the enjoyment which will end soon and for which you soon have to give answer. It is just a delusion. The Arabic word which is used for the word delusion in this verse is ٱلْغُرُورِ. Now interestingly, the arabic words have root words and through these root words, we can guess the meaning of the word. So the above mentioned word has 3 root words:
1. Gh
2. Ra
3. Ra
So these 3 root words give the meaning of deceived, to trick someone into doing something, to act in a childish manner.
So we can clearly say that the enjoyment of this world has deceived us to such an extent that we are unknowingly destroying ourselves. We are literally acting in a childish manner like have you seen a child who is ready to give his finger into socket? And he does not have any idea that it could literally take his life. So we are similarly indulged in the worldy things and we are just acting like a child that these worldly things can't destroy us. This world has charmed us in a deceptive way.So Allah Almighty is reminding us that this world is just a delusion and telling us to get prepared for your death. May Allah help us and make us His obedient servants.
