Jay's POV:
I had to go interrogate the parents of the victim with Hailey. The once filled with jokes and chats rides had turned into a silent and uncomfortable one. After what had happened last night we were pretty much ignoring each other. We interrogated the parents , couldn't really find any leads and drive back to the district. Before we went upstairs I pulled her into the locker room, making sure no one was in there. "Hailey , I think we need to talk. Not argue but talk like normal human beings", I started. She looked at me , let out a breath , crossed her arms in front of her chest. " then talk ", she stated firmly, not really up for a conversation. "I think it's better if we just stay partners. Not boyfriend and girlfriend. I feel like we are too different and things just don't fit. I also have to admit that I don't feel comfortable in this relationship anymore ", I said calmly and looked at her. She looked up at me for the first time that day. I could see the anger in the eyes. But that anger turned more into a disappointment and hurt one. "So you are breaking up with me ?"
I nodded. "Yes. I'm breaking up with you.Im sorry but I just noticed that this relationship is not good for me. I hope we still can stay friends tho"
"I think I need some time right now. Yes we had an argument last night , but I honestly didn't expect you to break up with me. " she admitted. I just nodded at her reply, not having anything else to say than "sorry"
She nodded a lil, looked at me once more then left the locker room. I let out a breath after she went away. Yes I felt bad for hurting her. She didn't deserve it but I just couldn't do it anymore. Couldn't be in a relationship with her anymore. And I finally needed to think about myself and do what's best for me. I felt relieved and free again. A feeling that was missing for a long time ....
