She woke up in a metal room. She began her new life laying on a cold metal floor, surrounded by a musky smell and complete darkness. Something shook the room she was in and a deafening sound of metal chains echoed through the room. She crawled into a sitting position and tried backing away from the sound, coming from nowhere in particular.
Her back hit another cold metal surface, she pulled her knees up to her chest and covered her ears to protect them from the harsh sounds of chains and pulleys. She thought she must be in a lift of some sort. She could feel the room going upwards in a motion that made her nauseous.
"Don't throw up. Don't throw up!" was all she could think. She was scared and wanted to cry. A tear slipped from the corner of her eye but she quickly wiped it away. Covering her ears again.
She looked up, to where the sound was predominantly coming from. For a second she thought she saw the moon and the stars but then her eyes adjusted to the darkness. As a matter of fact she couldn't even see her hands with how dark it was.
How did she get here? Why was she here? Where was she going? The place wasn't promising considering where she was now. There was an ominous and sinister aura in this place. She was shaken around by the shaft going upwards when a sudden oil smelled pierced through her senses, she could even taste it in her mouth. All she could do was wait until she would inevitably arrive at her unknown destination.
Talking about the unknown, she didn't seem to remember anything about her life. She knew that she was 16 years old but even her name seemed to be hiding behind some fog. It was there but it layed just out of reach. While trying to discover who she was or where she came from images and knowledge trickled back into her mind. She saw her standing with a family but she didn't recognize them, there were lakes, boat rides, images of moons, beaches with yellow sand and blue seas. There was a little girl on a track field and her sitting on a set of swings. There were images of baked good being made, mountains with snow and a treehouse. She couldn't determine where she came from or how she got in this god forsaken lift.
She had been going up for what could either be hours or minutes, she didn't care either way. Then suddenly the strange room came to a stop witch a loud clank. The jolt made her topple over. She scrambled up to her sitting position again. The oil smell had disappeared and the lift swayed less and less until everything went silent.
Time passed but nothing happened. One minute, two minutes, five, eight minutes. She was too terrified to make a sound or move even an inch. As if when she did, she would be dropped to her death down this shaft. Some more time passed and she decided to start asking for help.
"Hello? Is anybody there?" The girl said.
"Hello! Somebody help! Please let me out!" She yelled louder. She still didn't dare to move.
A metal on metal sound made its way into the lift. She tried backing further into the metal wall. A thin line of light formed itself across the ceiling. It expanded until it took up the whole ceiling. The light was very bright after the long-time of darkness. Now she could hear voices. The familiarity of voices made her less terrified.
"Would you look at this shank." An unfamiliar voice said.
"It's a girl!" Someone else chimed in. He spoke with an accent.
"How old is she?"
"I don't know. Maybe sixteen or seventeen."
"Well hope you enjoyed your one way trip, Greenie."
"Yeah, there's no getting out of here."
The girl squinted against the light. The moving shadows slowly turned into two boy's their faces. One was skinny, had blond hair, had deep brown eyes and he spoke with an accent. The other one was also blonde but had shorter hair and was more muscular. He had a strong eyebrow game. The boys seemed to be around her age. More people took shape and they were all looking into the lift. All of them boys. A hand reached down for her and she took it with hesitation. It was the boy with the accent who helped her out of the box. He helped her onto the steady floor and into the light.
"Nice to meet you shank." One of the boys said. "Welcome to the Glade."
