The Greenie did not remember falling asleep but was abruptly awaken by someone shaking her. The Greenie snapped her eyes open in fear, she could see the sky was still dark. She wanted to say something but there was a hand placed over her mouth.

"Shhh. Don't go waking Chuck." A voice packed thick with accent whispered at her. It was Newt. The Greenie instantly relaxed.

"Get up. I gotta show you something before the wake up. Follow me." Newt helped the Greenie up and he walked away. The Greenie tried her best to keep up with him. Following Newt meant manoeuvring around all of the sleeping boys with great skill. She also had to jog a bit to catch up with him.

"Where are we going?" The Greenie asked, making sure to keep her voice low as to not wake up anybody. If she had raised her voice any more than she had, she probably would have been yelled at. And to be honest she was not in the mood for that this morning. Actually she wouldn't be yelled at by Newt. He seemed to nice, but she didn't want to take the risk of him maybe doing so.

Newt had led the Greenie to one of the walls and he started to push some vines aside. This revealed what looked like some sort of window. It had the shape of a square and was very dusty. The Greenie looked through the window but saw only darkness.

"Am I supposed to see something?" The Greenbean dared to ask.

"Not yet Greenbean. One will come along in a bit." Newt whispered back.

The girl was peering through the window into the darkness but all she was thinking of was how close she was standing to Newt. She was also thinking of how he woke her up this morning. The boy really was nice and good-looking. Suddenly she saw something move in the depths of the darkness. Glimmers of an eerie light came through the window. It cast a beautiful light spectrum on Newt's body and face. The girl turned her face to look through the window again and squinted her eyes trying to make out what was out there.

"The maze is out there." Newt whispered to the Greenbean. "Every second of every shucking day we spend on that maze. Our whole lives revolve around the maze and trying to get out of it. Come here, take my place." He stepped aside but was still holding the vines. He gestured for her to stand where he had just stood. The girl followed his command. She looked though the dusty window again and a lump formed in her throat. She saw a bulbous, dark creature, with many appendages such as spikes, shears, and rods. It seems to move in a forward roll.

"What is that... thing?" The Greenie asked Newt. She wanted to close her eyes or look away from the large shapeless creature but she couldn't. It was as if she were frozen so she just watched as the beast rolled forwards.

"Those are the grievers. Bloody ugly creatures if you ask me. They are why the walls are here to keep us safe. They are also why you never leave the Glade unless you are a runner. Understood?" Newt said with all seriousness. The Greenie gulped and nodded. Her eyes were still locked on the Griever, as Newt had called the terrifying creature. Suddenly the creature leaped at the glass, hitting it with a large thump. The Girl turned around and ducked, covering her face with her hands. Finally she was able to look away from the griever. The griever bounced from the glass and no damage was done, luckily.

"Why the shuck did it do that?" The girl exclaimed with fear and panic audible in her voice.

Newt just chuckled "Nasty buggers they are, what can I tell you."

"Shuckface." The girl mumbled whilst standing up from her ducking position. The boy chuckled at the girl's remark.

Even with her mind being wiped the girl was sure that she had never seen a thing as terrifying as a Griever. The girl her body felt ice cold and she felt like she was gonna throw up. The girl wondered whether she would ever be able to eat again.
