After my third mai-tai, the world had started to look a little fuzzy around the edges, but I was enjoying it. Everything looked magical when the disco lights combined with the alcohol, and I never wanted the excitement of the night to end. Going out tonight was the best choice I had made in a long time.

I'm glad you're having fun, Caity, but be careful. You're starting to push the boundary between 'fun-drunk' and 'sloppy-drunk'.

"No, I'm not," I let out an obnoxiously loud laugh, and a man who was standing nearby looked at me funny. "There are no rules tonight, remember?"

I never said that.

"Well, you definitely implied it," I took a sip of my fourth mai-tai. "Besides, the whole team is here to help me."

I think Barry and Iris are kind of out of commission right now.

I looked over at the dance floor and spotted the two of them smack-dab in the middle. Iris was laughing heavily as Barry stood right behind her. He looked a little worried as he struggled to help her stand upright. I noticed her heels strewn on the floor next to them.

"At least I'm not as drunk as Iris," I snorted, stirring the tiny straw in my drink.

You're getting there.

"I'll be fine. Cisco and Ralph are still here. Somewhere." I searched the club for either team member. Despite his bright pink getup, Ralph had disappeared into the crowd. I hadn't seen him since the beginning of the night.

I've been keeping an eye out for Ralph, and he's long gone. Cisco's with Barry and Iris.

I looked back to where Barry and Iris were before. Just like Frost said, Cisco was in the middle of the dance floor, cocktail in hand. Barry and Iris were cheering him on from their nearby seats as he started to do the moonwalk.

I started to look at Cisco closer as fuzzy circles clouded the edges of my vision. He had taken off his blazer and unbuttoned the top of his shirt, leaving his collarbones and neck exposed. They shone against the light reflecting off the disco ball overhead. My eyes started to drift down to where his shirt met his slacks. He sure looked good in those pants. I shook my head and tried to clear my mind. I wasn't going to let myself travel down a path I would regret in the morning.

Someone's trying more than one new thing tonight.

"Shut it," I giggled and took a swig of my drink before setting it down on the table next to me. "I'm going to dance."

Suit yourself.

I stumbled a bit as I made my way over to Cisco and the rest of the team, and they all smiled when they saw me. Cisco's eyes widened and lips pursed as he realized I was teetering.

"Hey, Caitlin," He put a hand on my arm. "Do you remember how many drinks you've had tonight?"

"Just four," I shrugged him off and began to take my heels off. They were starting to hurt my feet. "Is that bad?"

"I think you need to go home," Cisco looked worried.

"What I need to do is dance," I laughed and touched his shoulder. "Come on. I saw your moonwalk earlier. Have any other moves to show me?" Before he could respond, I slipped on a slippery spot on the floor and fell square on my butt. Great, just great.

"Do you want to go outside for a little bit?" Cisco squatted down and leaned forward onto his toes. "You don't have to go home if you don't want to, but I think the fresh air will make you feel a lot better."

He's right, Caity.

I didn't want to listen to Frost, but I knew she was right. "Okay."

"I'll help you get outside," He grabbed my shoes and helped me up.

"Let me grab my drink first." I started walking back to the table where my mai-tai was, still only half-finished.

"I don't think that's a great idea, Cait-" I had already downed the rest of it before he could finish.

"I'm ready now," I smiled, grabbing onto his arm.

"Great, let's go," He gave me a half-hearted smile as he motioned to the team that we were stepping outside.

"See you soon!" I shouted as I turned to wave to Barry and Iris. Cisco and I made our way through the crowd and towards the red exit sign in the back of the room. He opened the door for me, and the world went black as soon as the cold air hit my face.

author's note:

hi everyone! I struggled a bit with this chapter because I've never been drunk (lol) but I still really enjoyed writing it.

there's one more part of the valentine's day storyline coming that'll be a bit of a deviation from my usual format, but I'll have a note at the very top with an explanation.

as always, have a lovely day, and thanks for reading! <3
