As I wipe down tables I remind myself as to why I have to work in a dumb café so late at night. Because the rent for my apartment is stupidly high and I don't have anywhere else to go. I wipe clean two more tables before the bell rings, signalling customers. A group of seven people walk in and spread out at two tables, so they all sat somewhat together. Taking a deep breath, I walk over to them to take their order. "Hey what can I get you guys? Would you like a menu or do you have an idea already?" I try to sound as cheerful as possible without sounding fake, but I came out as tired. I keep my head down, focusing on the table and the pad in my hands.
"Uh, can we get a menu please?" Nodding, I walk over to the counter to grab the menus. Before I walk back, I notice one of the only other employees staring at the group, who were chatting amongst themselves. She looks at me and pulls me over to stand with her.
"Oh my god (Y/n)! Are you that tired that you didn't notice the cast of your favourite movie trilogy just walked in!" Heidi hits my shoulder and points at the group. Holy shit she's right. Sat across two tables are Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelairo, Rosa Salazar, Dexter Darden, Will Poulter, Ki Hong Lee and lastly, my personal favourite, Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Why the hell is the cast of Maze Runner sat in a drive through diner at like 2am.
Heidi then pushes me forward to them and me being the klutz I am I trip and catch myself on a table before I'm on the floor. Behind me I hear Heidi laughing, so I stand up and with what little dignity I have left, give her the middle finger before turning and walking over to the group. They all stare at me awkwardly, until I hear a laugh. I look to who laughed and holy shit Thomas Brodie-Sangster is laughing at me. You know what it was kind of funny. So I chuckle too. Heidi behind me giggles to and soon everyone was laughing. Pulling myself together, I walk in front of them and hand them the menus.
"It's on the house, for making our night a little less shit." Before any of them can argue I skip away into the kitchen.
Time Skip
It's been a few hours since the cast got here and it's been the best few hours of my life. I think Heidi and I may have even become good friends with Rosa and Kaya, which is something I never would have expected to happen. By now it's about 5am and everyone is exhausted. When I get really tired my mood will either be really grumpy or giggly. Luckily right now I'm giggly. I push myself off of the chair I'm sat on and wander over to the coffee machine. "Hey, could you get me one too please," Kaya calls out. A couple other people shout out pleases too so I grab more mugs. While I wait for the coffee to brew someone walks over to me. I look over, expecting to see Heidi but Thomas is stood there instead.
"So I heard you're a big fan of The Maze Runner movies and books," at this I can feel my cheeks heat up. I nod and fiddle with a spoon, trying to make myself not look like an idiot. He lets out a breathy laugh next to me while he leans against the counter. Admittedly, I have always had a crush on Thomas since I saw him in Love Actually and Nanny McPhee but that was like a school girl crush or a celebrity crush. Now after spending hours really getting to know him, I like him a lot. He's funny, charming and just overall a great guy.
"Who's your favourite character? And I'm sure the other won't be offended when you say Newt," he smirks at me. Oh dear god why do you have to smirk at me Thomas.
"He is actually. I remember when I first read the books, I immediately knew that Newt would be a fictional crush of mine. That and I think he's an amazing character in general. He's brave and such a good guy, especially after what he's been through." By now it feels like my heart might explode from nerves. However when I look at Thomas' face I can feel my nerves calm a little. He's bright red with a shy smile, very different from the smirk and the almost cocky boy from before.
"He's also very pretty," I've got this far and haven't combusted so I may as well carry on. Thomas stares at me for a couple seconds. Then he asks me something I never would have expected...
"Do you want to go on a date sometime?"
