WHY DID OUT of everything that could happen, it was Roland's mother going missing and most likely looking for his father? Out of everything that could've happen, it had to be this. Roland didn't understand why his mother couldn't just stay put and be patient with his father. Just wait for him and Glenn to get back with Hershal and things to just be normal. And at the moment, he was fuming in anger over this.

"Shane, if you don't let me take a damn car I'm going to walk my ass to that town." Roland protested to his uncle that had his hands of his hips with his head lowered. "We have to wait. We can't risk the entire group going out at night. We would be putting more lives at risk than saving." Shane explained and Roland scoffed and shook his head. "Fine. I'm goin' on my own then." He growled as he attempted to move past Shane but was forced back to his original spot.

"Like hell you are! We haven't even searched all the property and you just want to go and be the hero?! Is that it?" Shane questioned as he shoved the boy back. "Don't you fucking touch me, Shane," Roland warned before shoving the man back. "I'm going after my mother. You can come or you can sit on your ass and continue to waste our time while she could either be dead or alive." He snapped before moving past Shane. Making sure to bump shoulders with the former police officer before getting in the tiny vehicle.

Turning it on, Roland didn't waste a second peeling out of the driveway of the farm and flooring it. Going in the direction of the town that he'd seen on one of the maps inside the house. He didn't want to leave so soon since he wanted to be with Beth, but he had to search for his mom. If he could find her, it would be the best time for him to tell the truth about what he did to Otis. And to explain why they couldn't trust him, or Shane.

After their short hug, Dale had explained to Roland that Shane wasn't someone he should be following. And as the information about Shane being erratic and dangerous pilled up onto Roland, he realized that and agreed. It also made Roland feel like a dumbass to be following Shane for so long and not questioning any of his uncle's actions. Not to call him out on the bullshit that he pulled and not drawing the line.

But in other ways, Roland realized that in this world, there were no lines to be drawn. It was survival of the fittest and people needed to realize that quickly. Roland had realized that the moment he killed Otis and he knew that his sins wouldn't be washed away by doing the right thing. All actions would lead down the road of destruction and at this moment, Roland had to understand that.
