Eddy knew Brett hated surprises. Which was why Brett was puzzled when Eddy walked into the kitchen that morning and told him he had made plans for the day. But then again, Eddy had done this a couple times, seemingly randomly, so Brett guessed it was just another one of those ideas Eddy had gotten into his head. Not to sound ungrateful; no, it was the opposite of that. Brett loved the surprises Eddy had for him. These surprises just came so randomly. Chuckling, he jokingly asked, "What are you dragging me into today, eh?"
A gleam in his eye, Eddy responded, "F*ck off mate, we both know full well you love my surprises. You just about proved that last time when you wouldn't let go of me for the whole day."
"Hey, you can't blame me for having such awesome luck that I have the best person in the world as my husband!"
Still smiling, Eddy walked over to where Brett stood, making eggs, and wrapped his arms around him, resting his head on Brett's shoulder. Brett leaned into the strong chest behind him, sighing contentedly. This was where he belonged. This was his home.
Eddy smiled when he felt Brett relax in his arms, leaning into the embrace. He still couldn't believe things had worked out between them in the end. After everything that had happened, they had gotten through all of it, together.
He buried his head in the crook of Brett's neck, planting a soft kiss on the smooth skin. "I love you," he whispered, barely audible. Brett's smile was almost radiating off of him, hearing those words. He really couldn't believe Eddy was his husband. After believing that Eddy hadn't ever loved him for so long, it still felt almost surreal that someone as great as Eddy would be in love with someone like him. But hey, if that was how it was, he wasn't complaining.
"I love you too," he replied, turning off the stove and turning around so he could give Eddy a soft kiss.

After they had eaten breakfast, Eddy went off to the closet to grab something. When Brett saw he had gotten a basket and blanket, he raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Eddy just smiled at him and told him he'd figure out where they were going soon enough. He packed the basket with food and then they were out the door, hand in hand.
Soon enough, Brett realized where they were headed. This was the forest on the cliff overlooking the sea. He unconsciously tightened his grip on Eddy's hand, waves of emotions crashing over him. Eddy looked at him, a little worried about what was going on in his head, but he was determined to erase all the bad memories that came with this clearing.

Brett stood watching as Eddy laid out the blanket. He was lost in his head; all the memories of this place, the memories he had locked away, they were resurfacing. Being taken from Eddy, all those years believing he hadn't loved him, he was just a distraction for him, believing he was happy with Bela, that he had forgotten about Brett. Seeing him here, Bella's hand intertwined with his, seeing them look at each other with what he thought was love. All the pain from those long years came back, flooding over him. But Eddy's hand slipping into his own, his grip firm, grounded him. Eddy pulled him onto his lap, wrapping him in his arms and silently brushing away the tears as they fell, his eyes mirroring Brett's.
"Hey, hey, Bretty, look at me. The only person I love is you. The whole Bela situation was the government playing its dirty tricks. And I'm sorry they did that to you, that they made you believe it was real. But Brett, you mean the world to me, you are my world. I wouldn't be able to live without you. I love you more than anything." He leaned his forehead against Brett's, looking straight into his eyes and baring his soul for Brett to see. And finally, Brett gave him a small smile; shaky, yes, but it was there. "After all, if I didn't love you, I wouldn't have stuck with you for this long. Hell, I wouldn't have married someone I didn't love." he said, chuckling. Brett smiled a little more, leaning closer to Eddy. "Yeah, well, you're married to me now, so you can't go anywhere else."
"There's no place in the world I'd rather be than beside you," he whispered, closing the small gap between their lips.

They lost themselves in the kiss, the setting sun bathing their love and passion in rich golden rays, banishing any shadows as it disappeared below the horizon.
