1 Day before the invasion
3rd person POV
Nadia and Ethan continued their training thinking that they had a whole month to prepare, little did they know that the Axellion and Lilith would be arriving the next day.
"Good job, dont leave your left side open" Ethan yelled out as several of his metallic feathers made their way to Nadias left side. Nadia nodded as she jumped into the air twisting her body so that she could dodge all 4 feathers just barely on time.
The feathers missed and landed in the water causing a small explosion to occur underneath. Nadia immediately moved out the way since the explosion was a diversion and 3 more feathers were coming from within the lake. As she reached 15 feet in the air she looked up and saw another pair of metallic feathers coming straight towards her.
She did a quick mid air backflip and dodged all feathers just barely causing her to lose her balance and skid across the water like a pebble being thrown on the surface of a lake. She quickly regained her composure and stood back on her two feet as she prepared for more attacks which never came. Nadia was now panting as she relaxed slightly causing Ethan to have the upper hand. She felt a slight pull on her collar as she was once again flung to the lake. "Ughh" she groaned as she landed back first into the lake. "Nadia you cannot give your enemy an opportunity to strike even when you think they wont strike they will so NEVER lower your guard" Ethan explained. "Well your not exactly my enemy so of course I was gonna lower my guard, but did you really have to throw me that hard, that hurt" Nadia complained as she walked out of the lake soaking wet as she rubbed her back.
"Sorry, ok we can take a break if you want" Ethan stated feeling bad for causing her to get hurt.
"No...I'm fine let's continue" Nadia stated confidently.
"Nadia it's already 2:00pm and we have been training since dawn arent you a little tired?" Ethan asked concerned for her new found determination.
"Look I've been slacking on my training and they are only a month away so I might as well get stronger through out that time. Plus I still havent unlocked 2 of my abilities." Nadia explained.
"I get that but they arent gonna awaken overnight, it takes time. So just take a break, it's not gonna do you any good if you collapse of exhaustion either" Ethan explained as he looked at Nadia worriedly.
"Fine" Nadia stated as she took a seat on the hammock. Ethan sitting next to her.
"So are you gonna tell me what this is really about?" Ethan stated wondering what has Nadia so worked up.
"I dont want to talk about it" Nadia stated coldly.
"Sorry I asked" Ethan stated hesitantly.
Nadia sighed before continuing "I'm sorry...your right I should talk about it... it's just in my nightmare last night I was powerless to do anything...and you were hurt...and I was useless I couldnt even fight back." She looked up at him as he looked at her intently listening to each and every word.
"Nadia it was just a nightmare" Ethan stated as he smiled at her wholesomly.
"But that the thing...what if it wasnt what if it's another one of my powers where I can see peoples past and future...what if...that was our future. I just dont want that to happen ok. We dont deserve that, you dont deserve that." Nadia explained as tears began to form.
She felt a comforting arm wrapped around her as Ethan explained, "Nothing is going to happen to me ok, I'm not gonna die anytime soon not with you by my side. You and I are going to make it out of this together I promise"
Nadia smiled as she returned the hug little did she know that Ethan was not smiling, he was upset because he knew then and there that was the first lie he ever told her. Truth was he had no idea what would happen to him but he knew one thing. Nadia was gonna survive this upcoming invasion even if it meant he had sacrifice himself in the process.
After a few minutes they both cuddled for a little while in the hammock, and ate lunch.
Once their stomachs were full they continued to train. "Ok remember never drop your guard no matter what, and we dont know their power so we just have to be ready for anything." Ethan explained.
"Ok got it" Nadia stated as she took in a deep breathe and began to run to Ethans direction as she prepared to ax kick Ethan. Ethan blocked it with his arm and grabbed her leg keeping her in place just long enough for him to kick in the side.
She landed a few feet away from him before going for an opening on his legs. She tried to knock him off his feet but he jumped before she got the chance. Ethan then charged his red power blast and pointed it towards Nadia. "Ready?" Ethan asked. "Ready" Nadia confirmed with a smirk.
Power blast after power blast they all aimed straight for Nadia. Which she dodged some with ease some with difficulty. Throughout the entire training process Nadia realized one thing, her agility improved tremendously.
Now was for the hard part of her training where Ethan was gonna throw everything he had on her. When the training began she started off good she was dodging every fire power blast and explosive metallic feathers he had at her and she dodged each one perfectly. He then brought out his armored arm and red scythe which she reflected easily with her own arm armour and turquoise scythe.
They battled each other for about 1 hour before they both reached their limits. Eventually it ended in hand to hand combat with Ethan being the victor, due to Nadia being wide open on her side causing Ethan to regain control of the battle and pin her down.
"You did really good...your getting better each and every day." Ethan stated in between pants before offering his hand to her.
"Thank you" Nadia stated grabbing onto his arm and being lifted up. "But it's not enough until I can beat you. Right now I'm still far below you" she explained.
"What are you talking about you gave me a hard time today" Ethan defended.
"Yeah...that would mean something to me if I knew you were giving it your all...you werent even trying. She explained.
"Oh...you caught up on that?" Ethan asked innocently as he scratched the back of his head ashamed of being caught.
"Ok but really how strong are you if you gave it your all?" Nadia asked.
"Well honestly I could probably destroy half the planet, so I cant really give it my all, I've never tried it either and I probably will never get the chance since my job is to protect this planet not destroy it." Ethan explained.
"Wow...that's incredible" Nadia stated as she looked at the sky. "Its dark already?" She asked as she yawned.
"well yeah we've been training all day and I'm starving so let's order pizza." Ethan stated childishly.
Nadia smiled as she followed him inside the cabin. Everything was going good for them both. Unfortunetly the invasion was coming sooner than they thought and they had absolutely no clue.
