The Aftermath

3 days after the invasion

Nadias POV...

It was hard to open my eyes...it was dark...Im cold...Am I dead?...No wait I hear murmurs. "Shes healing remarkably yet unnaturally fast for a wound soo severe at this rate she will be fully healed in a week." The voice stated quietly. "Thank you doctor here  $200 for your trouble" A different voice stated,

wait I recognize that voice its Isabelle. That means shes awake, and if shes hear that means I'm still alive...so then why cant I open my eyes.

Eventually all the voices went away until I heard tiny foot steps coming my way. I then felt a small hand wrap around my hand.

"Hi Nadia, its Kai I wanted to tell you that mommy and daddy said that your getting a lot better but they still cant find Ethan. So I need you to wake up now...please you need to help me get my big brother back...I miss him and I need him to teach me how to be strong like you. So please please please wake up." I heard Kai whisper.

After a few moments I was able to slightly squeeze Kais hand. I could feel Kai gasp as he ran upstairs and yelled, "Mommy Nadia squeezed my hand."

I could hear more people coming down the stairs as I tried as hard as I could and little by little my eyes began to open. When I opened my eyes Isabelle, David, and Kai were at the foot of the bed that I was laying in.

"Nadia dont try to speak yet here" Isabelle stated as she slowly elavated my head and gave me water. I finished drinking the water as I slowly started to sit up. "Maybe you should wait till your fully healed." David stated. Isabelle rubbed her stomach as she tilted her head slightly and asked, "Nadia...do you remember what happened to you?"

"Um...how many days was I out for" I asked confused. " You were unconscious for 3 days" David responded quietly.

My throat began to feel stiff before I heard someone speak. "Kai can you go get Nadia more water from the kitchen baby" Isabelle stated softly.

"Oh ok mommy...I'll be right back Nadia" Kai stated hesitant to leave.
Once he left Isabelle sat next to me and David asked," Nadia what happened out there Kai wont say a thing and then both of you and Isabelle just appeared in our basement out of no where without Ethan...so where is he?"

At that moment everything I was holding back came flooding out like a waterfall as I began to sob. "Im... soo...sorry...its my fault...hes gone...I wasnt able to stop them...they stabbed him and he couldnt get up...he sacrificed himself for us...and now because of me you lost your son...and kai and your unborn baby lost their brother." I stated in between my sobs.

The door immediately slammed open and Kai came in yelling, " Your wrong...your all wrong hes not dead, he promised me he would come back and Ethan never breaks his promises. He would do anything to bring us back home so why am I the only one trying to get him back!"

Isabelle sniffed as she wiped away her tears for she had been grieving for the lost of her eldest son since they came back without him. "Kai...sweetheart we need to talk" Isabelle stated quietly.

"NO...HES NOT DEAD HE CANT BE...ETHAN WOULD NEVER LEAVE ME ALONE...YOUR ALL LIARS!!", Kai yelled before he ran to his room and slammed the door.

No one said a word but we could all hear kais muffled cries from downstairs. I looked up and Isabelle and David were crying silently. My tears wouldnt stop falling like as if I had no control.

Eventually Isabelle and David left me alone as they went to go check up on kai. All I could was Kai yelling and the door slamming until eventually Isabelle and David went into their room no doubt to cry.

After about 15 minutes Kai quietly came into my room. He had is head down and he looked guilty. "Um...Nadia...I'm really sorry for yelling at you...and calling you a liar...I didnt mean it I was just soo mad...so I said things I didnt mean" Kai explained shyly.

I smiled softly at him and signaled for him to sit next to me. He came and climbed on my bed and laid on the side that wasnt injured. I hugged him as I told him, " You know kai I want to tell you thank you for saving me back there when I got hurt and was bleeding"

Kai then asked, " Why I don't save you that was Ethan...all I did was stop the bleeding like he told me to" I laid my head on his and explained to him,

" He may have caught me but if it werent for you stopping the bleeding I wouldnt be here talking to you, so in my eyes your my hero" I finished as I gently hugged him.

"Then how come I dont feel like one" Kai stated sadly. "I think that you just miss your brother and thats why you've been soo mad lately" I explained to him.

"You must have been soo scared and I'm sorry you had to see all that...you should've never been dragged into it. We shouldve protected you and instead we forced you to grow up when you werent ready. But from now on I will do everything I can to protect you...its what your brother wouldve wanted." I explained as I felt him begin to cry.

"I...I dont want to feel this way. I'm scared all the time...I'm always crying and shaking...and I cant sleep...I want Ethan he would know what to do...he would know how to help me." Kai stated in between his sobs.

"I know...and I'm soo sorry but I promise you I will avenge him no matter what because I loved him more than you will ever know. And I know that he would want me to protect his family from any danger." I explained to Kai.

"But...but those police people said that they couldnt find his body just blood. So maybe, hes still alive somewhere, maybe someone stopped his bleeding the way I stopped yours." Kai stated with hope gleaming in his eyes as he looked up at me.

But how do I tell a 6 year old that his brother isnt coming back. How do I tell him that they took his brothers body as a trophy for their success. How do I explain any of this to Kai. I may be able to protect him physically but mentally he will never be the same.

"Lets hope so buddy," I stated softly. "Hey...why dont you go apologize to your mom and dad they were worried about you," I told him with a soft smile. "Oh ok" he stated as he carefully climbed off my bed and walked towards the door he opened the door stopped and turned to say one last thing, " Oh and Nadia...I'm glad you're Ethan girlfriend" He then smiled and walked towards his parents bedroom.

Once he left the room I was by myself and I couldnt help but look up at the sky and ask, " Ethan what would you do if you were in my situation?"
