(Emma's POV)
I roll my eyes as Maya checks her appearance in the mirror for the billionth time. I've been ready for almost an hour, sitting on the edge of the bed in a plain, but comfortable t-shirt and jeans. I didn't see why Maya was putting so much work into her appearance when chances were that the people she was trying to impress would never notice her in the swarm of fans.
"Can we go yet?" I ask, a bit annoyed by how much time Maya was spending on how she looked.
"I'm almost ready," she reassured me. I groaned, lying back down on the bed.
"You've said that Three times." I point out.
Maya laughed. "Yeah, sorry." She pulled herself away from the mirror and grabbed her purse. "I just want to impress Louis."
I laughed at that. "What are the chances he'll even notice you? Not to mention I thought you shipped Larry."
Maya clapped at my use of the ship name she had been trying to get me to use for months now, ignoring the first half of my comment.
"Larry is real." She whispered in her best secretive voice, laughing when I rolled my eyes. "Admit it though, they'd make a cute couple."
"Nothing about that band is cute," I remark, causing her to throw one of the hotel provided pillows at my head.
"You're so mean. How do you think they feel?" Maya laughed as I stood up.
"They have enough foolhardy fans like you to roughly even the scale" I state, and Maya shoved me hard in the shoulder.
"Rude." She remarks. "Just for that. I'm not gonna take you to their concert."
I laugh. "Your forgetting that I'm your ride."
"I'll get a cab." She argues.
"Feel free. I never wanted to come." I decide. May laughed and shoved me into the car, which I immediately started.
"To the concert?" I ask, already knowing the answer.
"To the concert." Maya nods.

It took roughly three hours to get from the hotel to the inside of the concert building. Between the long lines and New York traffic, I was about ready to throw myself off a cliff by the time the concert starts.
The concert goes just as poorly as expected. Long, loud, and boring. If Maya wasn't so obsessed with this band, we probably would have left by now. But Maya stuck around, even when you could barely hear the singing over the fans screams. I just sat there, bored out of my mind until the concert was over. By that time, Maya was ready to drop dead, but I really needed to pee and had withstood her stupid concert all night. Acknowledging both these things, Maya agreed to wait for me.
I headed off to where I thought the bathrooms were, but I must have taken a wrong turn along the way. Because what I opened the door on was certainly not a bathroom. It was the source of all my problems.
