ROBBIE

"Pull up over here," Mitch points to an empty parking lot so I move my truck into the lot and pull into a parking spot. Soon enough, Granger's truck pulls up next to me. Granger already has his driver's side window down and Mitch puts his window down as well so the guys can talk to each other.

"These cameras are off right now," Granger states matter of factly.

I look around and see at least two places on the building that have cameras, "How do you know?" I question him.

"I just know. If we're going to do this, you need to trust me. You may be trained in certain skills, Robbie, but I've got my own set of skills and tricks under my sleeve, got it?"

"Yes, sir. Is she still showing in this area?"

He nods his head, "Yeah, it looks like she is right where you said she would be. She hasn't moved since we left the police station, so she's obviously stationary. Jace and I are going to go in from the back, you two hit from the front. I'm going to knock the power out, so don't go in until you see the lights go out."

"What if that freaks him out and he does something stupid?" I challenge his plan once again.

"It could, but the idea is that it would give us enough time to take him by surprise." He gives his attention to Mitch. "Jace is going to call you, keep it on speaker so we can hear each other if needed."

"Got it. Stay safe, boys, let's take care of this."

The four of us get out of the two trucks. Mitch and I start to head down the street that leads to Patrick's old place and I see Granger and Jace head towards a small alleyway that will take them to the back of the house. My heart is beating out of my chest, but the air is silent between Mitch and me. The cold winter night meant there were no birds chirping or insect noises. There was just a slight breeze and silence.

I don't say a word, just point at the house in front of us on the right. There is a single-window lit up and a car parked in the driveway. It isn't Patrick's regular car, but I have a gut feeling that it is where he is. I pick up my pace, ready to break down the down and get my girls back, but Mitch grabs my arm to slow me down. I try to shove him off, but he tightens his grip and almost takes me down to the ground.

"Let me go, Mitch! I don't have time for these damn games."

'These aren't games, Robbie. You need to wait for Granger. He knows what he is doing and he has somebody watching our back. If you move too soon, you could cause more bad than good. Trust me, I want to rush that house too, but the last thing I want is for him to hurt either of the girls in there. We don't even know what is going on in there. We need to be careful."

"Fine," I shove him off of me and go back to the regular pace. As we get to the house, the front door opens. We're out in the open and could easily be seen by whoever opened that door. Mitch pushes me behind the minivan parked in the driveway next to the target house. I peek behind the van as Mitch talks to Jace on his phone to update him on the situation.

My heart aches when I see Clementine carrying Vivienne with Patrick standing right behind him. The way he has positioned them is clearly for his defensive reasons. If somebody were to attempt to come at him, they'd first have to go through Vivienne and Clementine. He's clearly thought through some of his actions. I won't give him any credit, but he certainly isn't stupid.

I smack Mitch to get his attention and point over to the driveway. "They're getting in the car, tell Granger that we need a change of plans."

"Fuck..." Mitch goes back to talking on the phone. "We need to move right now, he's going into the car with them."
