Ink's POV

I felt my dog lick my face to wake me up. Turning over, I refused to get out of bed as I was drained of all energy. After that tower mission, I went grinding to gain skill points. I just happened to lose track of time and I went to bed at one in the morning.

Ginger became impatient and started to bark at me. This caused me to push myself up since I couldn't fall asleep with the loud noise.

Me: Alright, alright, I'm up.

I said as I rubbed my face with my hands. Ginger seemed to have a certain expression of accomplishment as she was able to get me out of bed.

I picked up my phone to check for notifications but that's when I realized that I forgot to plug in the charger. Meaning my phone was completely and utterly dead.

Sighing to myself, I attached the charger. While I waited, I changed into day clothes and wrapped my favorite brown scarf around my neck. I never cared for morning showers since they somewhat took up spare time.

I used my mother's coffee grind to make myself a cup. My mom always left early in the mornings and came back late at night. So I mostly had the house to myself.

'Item acquired: Nectar of the Gods.'

My phone wasn't charged all the way but it was good enough. I checked the time as I took a sip of my drink. That's when I almost chocked myself. I was an hour late!

Looking at Ginger, I whined.

Me: Why didn't you wake me up earlier? Now I'm late and in so much trouble.

Hastily packing my laptop and books, I grabbed my rucksack and ran out the door. However, I went back to lock the house so no one could just walk in.

As I ran to school, I received a text from my phone.

Voidzer text: Good morning.

Me: Not right now. Running to school. Hour late.

Voidzer text: Did you sleep in? I told you not to stay up farming for skill points.

I stuffed my phone into my rucksack and entered the school campus. The courtyard was empty because everyone else was in the building.

Bursting through the front door, I ran down the hallway. That's when I heard a woman call my name.

???: Ink Comyet!

'Crap.'

Me: Hello Mrs. Hall.

Hall: Why are you a hour late?

Me: My phone was dead so my alarm didn't go off.

Hall: Likely story. Detention for the next week Mr. Comyet!

Me: What?! But-

Hall: No excuses. Get to class.

I hung my head low out of embarrassment and trudged myself to class. When I opened the door, I felt the eyes of my peers land on me. The teacher suddenly looked at me and pointed his finger.

Teacher: Ink, since you're so late, I'm assuming were working on your book report. So it's your turn to present your project.

A sinking feeling set inside me. It dawned on me that I forgot my report at home. My day couldn't get any worse.

Me: Um, I forgot my report at home.

Teacher: Speak with me after class.

Giggles resonated from my classmates. Normally I wouldn't care but now... I felt so small among them.

'Reputation decreased by two levels.'

Walking over to my seat, I tried to hide myself in my brown scarf. There was a certain feeling that gave me a notion that someone was watching me.

Moving my head, I saw Error staring at me. Strangely, he wasn't smiling like the others. He gave me a look that was almost sympathetic.

(Time Skip)

For the rest of class, I was drawing in my notebook. A clearing of a throat caught my attention which instantly made me regret drawing and not taking notes.

I looked up to see the teacher standing in front of my desk. The entire classroom was empty, pushing me to realize that the hour was over. The teacher sighed as he pulled a chair to my desk.

Teacher: I have been really concerned about you, Ink. Normally you are a student with good grades but for the past week, it has been slowly dropping. Is there something going on that is bothering you?

Matter of fact, there was. My mom started bringing home random guys after my father passed away.

Me: Yeah, actually. My mom is dating again but I don't trust any of them. It stresses me out so I play games to keep my mind from thinking of it. And I guess... I've been falling behind on homework. Although, I did get that report done. And now I have detention for being late.

The teacher stared at me as he gave me a fatherly expression.

Teacher: How about this? During lunch, you come to this room and I can help you with your homework. You can eat as well.

I was surprised because one of the rules in the classroom was no eating. A smile grew on my face.

Me: Thank you Mr. Sánchez.

My eyes moved slightly and that's when I happened to catch something terrifying to me. A skeleton was listening in on our conversation. There's no telling what they could do with that information. It scared me more because it was...
