Skulduggery's POV:

I received a text and was gone in a flash leaving. I didn't tell anyone where I was going honestly, I didn't think to say anything. All I cared about was her. She had been gone 5 years we were certain she was dead. Back when we finally got rid of Darquesse she was cleared from the medical wing and she took off telling no-one anything, not her parents, not Tanith not even me.

Unknown: Hi Skulduggery, It's Val here. Just hoping you are free to come and find me in Colorado? I was thinking about coming home.

Skulduggery: Sure, I will be there ASAP.

Valkyrie: Thanks!

I got in the Canary car leaving the Bentley at the sanctuary. not bothering to take anything other than my hat. A hat was a necessity ALWAYS. I drove at 80 mph on a 40mph road. I knew I was violating rules but all that mattered was Valkyrie. I couldn't let her run off again never. She was far too good a partner, far too good a friend. I drove until I reached the airport reactivating my facade and took a direct flight to America. It took me 13 hours to get there but when I arrived i was preparing to be rewarded this was worth it. When I arrived at her small but elegant two-story house to find nothing. The house was deserted, all lights off, no life in sight.

" I must have got it wrong" I growled. I paced in front of the car I had rented which was a pale pink Mini with horrid yellow backseats. I took one last look at the place before getting in the Mini.

Valkyrie's POV:

"I must have got it wrong" I heard him growl. I saw him pacing angrily in front of a small pink Mini, which I realised he must have rented. Odd, I swear that man shows more dedication to the Bentley than to living people. I realised he was looking at the back of the house the side I had left to grow and live by itself so with the lights off and the blinds closed it must have looked abandoned. I watched him get into the pink Mini as I frantically ran over to the only opening window upstairs. Jamming it open I shoved myself through hearing the Bentley start up. Landing perfectly without making a sound by absorbing the impact on the balls of my feet and in my knees. I sprinted round to the font of the house as he was about to pull away.

"Hey" I shouted.

Skulduggery's POV:

I heard a light and muted thud near the back of the house. I thought about investigating but in all that time Valkyrie could run and hide and be gone for a decade. I started to pull away.

"Hey" a disembodied yell, yet annoyingly familiar voice called. I stopped the car, hallucinations I thought. Then " Hey, Hey Skul, over here." I looked up to see a beautiful dark-haired girl strutting calmly toward me I opened the door and walked to her. We embraced and she took a step back.

"I've Missed you" she said.

"As have I you" I said.

" Thought you were leaving without me." She said a sad tone to her voice

" Well, I thought this place was abandoned, look at the state of it" I joked

" Yeah, I know but this is the back of the house, if you had followed the drive then you would have reached the front of the house."

"Where is the drive?" I asked confused. She pointed and grabbed my hand leading me round to the front of the house on a small track which is clearly her version of drive. Her hand in mine sent waves of electricity up my arms (metaphorically)

" No Bentley?" She asked

"No time" I said, I really couldn't allow her to run off again.

"Ok" was all she said, and we left it at that.

Valkyrie POV:

As I held his hand in mine, I felt electricity shooting up and down my arm. I reached the front of the house eager for more hand holding. Wait what?? I was eager for hand holding. Not possible I couldn't be in love. Not with him. My Partner in Crime. I let go and ran upstairs.

Wait here" I told him as I rushed upstairs. Grabbing all sorts of suitcases full of clothes and other various important items. I dragged round as much I thought could fit in the extremely small boot of the mini. I rushed to the back of the house bags in tow and loaded them into the Mini. I took one last look at the full boot and slammed it shut.

I got in the passenger door realising the seats were a snot yellow colour. I sighed impatiently. He loved getting horrid cars, the Bentley aside of course.

He got in the car, and we knocked arms on the elbow rest. It all proved too much and...
