Chapter 19: 2nd choice again

The next morning you woke up to the smell of freshly made pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon.   You slowly walked out of Masaru's room and went to the kitchen when he was putting the plates and cups on the table.  "Goodmorning." said Masaru after he turned around and saw you.  "Goodmorning." You said while slowly walking over to the table to sit down.

"Did you sleep okay last night?" Masaru asked you.  You nodded your head then told him, "I fell asleep right way." He smiled then said "That's good. I'm glad you were able to get enough sleep." You smiled back before digging into your plate. You were both quiet for awhile until you guys finished your breakfast then you offered to do the dishes since he made you breakfast but then he suggested to do them together so you both ended up doing the dishes.

"Thank you for letting me stay." You told him. "No problem. I'm glad you called and asked to come over." said Masaru. You looked at him slightly smiling then after you guys finished doing the dishes you guys walked into the living room and he said "I'm gonna go get ready for work." You nodded then said "Okay I'll wait for you."

Masaru didn't know what to say but then he said "You don't have to wait for me. I don't think you should go to work today." You nodded again and said, "Okay then I'm gonna go to my friend Mei's apartment." You were about to walk away when Masaru grabbed you by the arm and said "No you should stay here."

You looked at him without saying anything so then he said "I don't think it's safe for you to be out and about.   You can stay here where it's safe." You nodded your head once again.  "Okay.  I'll stay." Masaru nodded his head before he walked away to go get ready for work.

You sat down on the couch thinking to yourself about what just happened.  What was that about? Why did he grab my arm? Why? When he did that it made my heart beat really fast.  Why though? I mean...he has a girlfriend.  You remembered him once saying that he had a girlfriend but then you also remembered that time at the amusement park when he confessed to you. Masaru likes me..? He likes me? That can't be. No way. He probably just said that in the moment but if he did mean it....what about his girlfriend? Your jaw dropped as you kept thinking about it. Is he planning to cheat on his girlfriend with me?!

When Masaru finally came out to the living room you quickly stood up then said, "I know you said I can stay but I think I should leave." He looked at you confused and asked "Why?" You didn't know what to say so then you said "I just think that I should okay?" You walked towards him and tried to walk past him down the hall but then he stopped you by grabbing you and pinning you to the wall.

"I won't let you leave until you tell me why you changed your mind." said Masaru. "...Okay I'll tell you." You said to him without looking him in the eyes. "Remember when you confessed your feelings to me at the amusement park?" You asked him and he nodded in response. "Did you really mean it? or were you just saying that in the moment because of the fireworks?" You asked. "I did mean it," he said, "I really like you (Y/N)."

You didn't know what to say after that but then you asked him "What about your girlfriend? You said you had a girlfriend." Masaru looked at you with a straight face for a moment before he started smiling and then laughing a bit. "I don't have a girlfriend." He finally said.

You looked confused and didn't know what to say so then he said "I lied about having a girlfriend that one day when Takumi came to pick you up from work." At that moment you finally understood what Masaru was saying. "So then you said that because of me?" You asked him. He nodded in response. "You asked if I meant what I said at the park right?" You nodded then with a smile he said, "Then I'll show you that I meant it."

He leaned in and then kissed you in which you ended up kissing him back. After that he pulled away to look at your face which was red because of what happened, it made Masaru smile and he called you cute. "I should go to work now but before I leave....will you please stay here?" Masaru asked. You nodded your head with a smile. "Yes. I'll be here when you come home." Masaru smiled once again then he handed you a phone and said "This is my old phone. You can use it to keep in touch with me and to contact your friends."
