17: "so you made up?"

"So you made up?" Finnegan asks innocently at the breakfast table, eyeing the scarf you'd wrapped around your neck that morning after you almost died from the blood rush to your head upon seeing all the marks on your neck from last night.

"Made up and made out," Pyotr laughs, seeing right through your attempt to hide the evidence of last night. "Did you have angry make up sex?"

"Shut up." You grumble, stealing a piece of his toast as punishment and taking a bite to distract yourself from the memories of how Hange's thighs felt beneath your own.

Alice begs for details, but you ignore her, which only makes her worse. "We're your squad, we deserve the details! Are they good in bed? Are they kinky?"

"Shut up! We didn't have sex!" You whisper shout, hyper aware of the people who are still gossiping about your sex life after yesterday's disaster of a day. "But we're friends again so it's fine, we can forget anything happened."

"Friends don't leave so many hickeys on their friend's neck that that friend has to wear a scarf to hide them," you glare at Theo as he calls you out, but he isn't deterred by it. "Nor do they get jealous at the thought of their friend fucking someone else."

"And you do have feelings for them, so if you keep down this path you might end up hurt," Finnegan joins in, and the others all agree with him. "But I think they like you back so just tell them."

"No," You refuse flat out, taking another bite of Pyotr's toast before you forcefully change the subject to the plan for the day. "We have gear maintenance with Levi squad soon and then I've booked us the afternoon off, because I have a remedial meeting with the Commander…"

"Is that about yesterday?" Alice asks cheerily, with all the positivity of a person who really enjoys seeing you struggle.

Levi had caught you this morning and told you about the meeting, so you'd had to make a quick change to your schedule since you were meant to be doing a training presentation with your squad. It didn't help that people are still gossiping about you, your reputation is definitely tarnished for the foreseeable future, and you are still angry at Hange for that (you can think of a few ways they could make it up to you). But thankfully the team you were meant to be helping didn't mind, and were really nice to you about it.

Through gritted teeth you reply, "Yes, obviously. But like I said, everything's fine now."

"Right, right," Theo agrees, but you detect sarcasm. "Did he get really angry yesterday?"

"No he just told us to be adults and fight it out in private, he gave us until the end of the week or else it'd be insubordination and he'd put us in the cells."

"So you fucked about it to avoid punishment." Pyotr concludes breezily, as if his words didn't carry the weight they should.

"We didn't-! We didn't do that, we just… Made out…" You clarify sheepishly, gesturing vaguely to your scarf and cringing at the way Alice gasps, despite all of them already having figured that was the case. "Don't say a word about it. It's complicated and we're still just friends."

"My lips are sealed." She swears, but you can see her fingers are crossed where her hands rest on the table. You roll your eyes but let the squad continue the conversation wherever it'll lead next.

"So the two of you made up," Levi points out the obvious, almost copying what Finnegan had said this morning perfectly, and he raises an eyebrow at your answering scowl. “Or you pretended to and haven’t actually solved any of the problems the two of you have?”
