Hogwarts - Sixth Year

3rd Person POV

James Potter is sitting in the great hall, eating breakfast like the rest of the students at Hogwarts when all of a sudden Lily Evans walks in.

"James Potter, " she yells, gathering the attention of everyone present in the room. She walks over to him, grabs his hands and makes him stand up. "James Fleamont Potter, will you be my boyfriend?"

What the hell? The raven-haired boy thinks to himself. His confusion was shared by pretty much everyone there, except for Marlene McKinnon and Mary MacDonald who Lily told. It was a well known fact that Lily had never once hinted that she was interested when James was asking her out and flirting everyday.

"W-what?" he asked stuttering, all traces of his usual confidence gone.

"I asked if you would be my boyfriend?"

"Why?"

"Because I like you. So, what do you say?"

James looks away from the redheaded girl and looks at the slytherin table (which thankfully was right behind her, because how would you explain that) and meets the peircing blue eyes that have been starting at him. Regulus raises one eyebrow and looks him up and down before looking back into James' eyes.

Potter looks back at Lily, "Look Evans, I think you're wonderful, and I really like you... just not that way."

"What, but you used to really like me. What changed?" she says her voice sounding like she might cry.

How is James supposed to explain to her that the reason he doesn't like her anymore is because he is now secretly dating his best friends younger brother? The answer was simple... don't.

"I got tired of waiting," he replied. It seemed like a good enough answer.

Then the tears started, it looked like she was trying to hold them back, but was failing miserably. "Fine, whatever, goodbye then," with that she stormed out of the room.

James looked at his boyfriend one more time and saw that he had a smirk of his face, though he was trying to hide it. Potter internally smiled, Why have that when I already have this?
