The world blurred into existence as gravity attempted to keep me from getting up. I heard the buzzing of wings as something landed next to me.

"Over here. You wouldn't believe the energy this human is giving off. It makes no sense. This shouldn't be possible!" A woman's voice rang out.

My eyelids fluttered open and I pushed myself into a sitting position. A small, young-looking woman with wings on her back was starring curiously at me. She had a device in her hand that she was pointing at me. When she saw I was awake, she took an uncertain step back.

"I assume you are referring to temporal energy that is given off from time travel Holly." A young man said. He spoke with an Irish accent.

The man had dark hair and pale skin. He looked to be in his twenties. He dressed in a fine suit and wore sunglasses. He was standing a few feet away, gazing at me. When I made eye contact he walked over and kneeled beside me, observing me.

I looked from the man to Holly before a new realization hit me. My eyes widened and my heart began racing. The man interrupted me.

"I'm Artemis Fowl. This is Holly Short." He said, gesturing to the girl with wings. "Judging by your expression, I'm guessing you have amnesia. Do you remember your name?"

"Danelle? The name just popped into my head, but I think that's my name, but I'm not sure. I can't remember anything" I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

I looked around for the first time and drew in a breath of surprise. The sun had set and I was in a well-lit park. There were a few people around but they didn't move, frozen in their various activities. A blue-colored light surrounded the area. I looked back at Artemis and he seemed to pick up on my confusion.

"Yes, the fairies have frozen time. You caused quite the stir young lady," Artemis said.

Holly came closer to examine me. "How do you know she's a time traveler? Even Foaly couldn't identify her energy signature."

Artemis turned to his companion. "You're getting sloppy Holly. Her clothes are handmade and not from this era. She is also unaffected by the shield."

"That doesn't prove anything," Holly argued.

Another small man with wings walked towards me. He pointed an instrument in my direction. "Amnesia or not I'm wiping her remaining memory, sorry kid."

I put out a hand defensively and was about to get to my feet when the small fairy went flying backward and hit a tree. He looked at me stunned.

"Magic humans." Holly glowered at me.

I was about to apologize when Holly opened her mouth. "Well, we can't let a magic, time-traveling human run around London who can't control her powers now can we? I have a nice cell back in Haven City where we can keep an eye on this one."

I stood up abruptly, my hands now balled into fists. "I'm not going anywhere with you."

"Humans are bad enough ruining the planet, they had to go and steal our magic too. You don't have a say in this." She said.

"I didn't steal anyone's magic!" I argued. At least, I don't think I did. I was too upset to care.

Holly tensed as she saw me take a step forward. I'd fight her if I had to.

Artemis got to his feet, calmly straightened out his suit, and cleared his throat. "The girl will come with me."

Holly and I both looked at Artemis in surprise. "What?" We said together.

"I take it you are capable of finishing up here without me Holly?" Artemis asked.

"Yes Artemis," Holly said testily.

Holly took down the shield as Artemis walked away.

"Butler," Artemis said.

I looked on curiously at a large metal device that Artemis climbed into. The thing had rotating metal blades on top. As I was pondering this, I felt myself easily lifted off the ground by a large man with grey hair. I let out a squeal of surprise as he carried me to the device.

Wait a minute, didn't I get a say so in this? "Hey wait!" I demanded.

Butler ignored me and carried me inside and put me onto one of the seats. He then strapped me in, closed the door, and buckled himself into a seat opposite of me.

"Home," Artemis instructed.

"Yes sir!" A man up front said.

Butler reached up and flipped a switch, lighting up the metal box. There were four individual seats, all facing each other.

"What is this thing?" I asked

"What is this thing?" I asked.

Artemis looked at me with no expression. "Interesting."

Butler frowned at my confusion. "It's a helicopter."

"What?" I objected at the look on his face. "I have amnesia."

I screamed and gripped my seat as the helicopter shot up in the air and took off.

Artemis looked out the window, having lost interest in the conversation.
