Kaili tossed her pompoms into her cheer bag, throwing the strap over her shoulder as she took off onto the gym floor.
Players had started coming out of the locker room, and Kaili greeted the boys and spectators alike as she waited for her best friend whom she knew would be the last one out.
After a very hyped up conversation with some other girls about celebrations, Kaili finally sees the black hair of her best friend bouncing above the crowd as he walked out with one of the freshman.
"LELE"
His head popped up at her call, responding with the same enthusiasm.
"LILI"
People moved out of the way so that the two best friends could make their way to each other, both running to the other with way too much energy for the activities they had just done.
Kaili hopped into her best friend's arms as they spun around, their screams being heard over the other chatters, neither one caring about the attention they had attracted.
"THAT HALF COURT SHOT WAS AMAZING, WHY HAVE YOU NEVER SHOWN ME IT BEFORE"
"I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I COULD MAKE FIRST"
Their words died out into laughter and when they finally spoke again their volume was back down to a normal level, normal for them at least.
"Well half the school is in love with you now, don't forget me when you're famous okay?"
What he wanted to say was that the only person he wanted to be in love with him was her, but for the sake of his pride and their friendship, his response was a little different.
"Bitch I'm already famous, what do you mean?"
She laughed at his comment before telling him about the celebration plans for the night, getting a slight groan in response.
"But what if i don't want to go out? I just played for four quarters straight, maybe i wanna go home and cuddle with my best friend"
The second option was much preferred by Kaili too, since she was the best friend who would get to be cuddled, but she knew Chenle would have more fun being out with his teammates.
"Well what if you do go out because, as the coolest people in the school we're obviously expected to be there," this got a chuckle out of her best friend, but he continued listening to her proposition anyway, "and then after we have lots of fun we can go home and cuddle"
"Hmmmm," he put his best thinking face on before shrugging, "I mean yeah whatever, I guess that's fine"
Kaili smacked his arm, but didn't say anything else as she jumped off of him and drug him towards the group of teenagers waiting for them.
"Do any of the lowerclassmen need a ride?" Chenle offered as the group headed towards the parking lot.
Two of the cheerleaders did, and they clambered into the backseat after Kaili very loudly called dibs on the front seat, even though everyone knew she was the only one allowed front seat.
They pulled up to the restraunt about 15 minutes later, the large group entering together, the players in their warmups and the cheerleaders still in their uniforms.
Kaili and some of the other girls went off to the bathroom while they waited to be seated, fixing their hair and washing their hands before eating.
When they made it out, the rest of the group had gotten led to their table, and Kaili smiled upon seeing the empty seat next to her best friend.
"Awe did you save me a seat lele?" She teased, nudging him playfully as she took the seat.
"Phfft you wish, youre just lucky nobody wanted to sit next to me"
A few of the boys raised their eyebrows at the response, Donghyuck practically snorting remembering how Chenle had told everyone that the seat next to him was for Kaili and no one else.
The girl was immediately swept up in conversation, Renjun asking her about the competition her squad had the next day.
Chenle was caught in another conversation, neither realizing the way their hands lightly brushed over each others whenever one laughed a little too hard or moved a little too much.
The talking ceased as the waitress came to take their order, and Kaili was suddenly very aware of the way her best friends hand was resting on top of hers.
She barely survived ordering with the butterflies going wild in her stomache at the small touch, and her heart basically exploded when Chenle slid his hoodie off.
"You still eat like a toddler, and I don't want you to get food on your uniform," he laughed as he slid the jacket over her head, enjoying the way her head barely peeked out of the hood.
"Cute" he chuckled, and Kaili blanched once again, confused as to why she felt like she was going to melt into a puddle every time her best friend smiled.
