"Kaili. You've been sleeping the entire way here, you can wake up now."
Chenle repeatedly shrugged his shoulder, attempting to get Kaili's head off from where she'd cemented it since they got on the bus (save for when she woke up and they spent an hour throwing Goldfish into his mouth).
Chenle thought it was cute for the first four hours, but it was now creating quite the challenge since they were trying to get off the bus and into the hotel with all of their things, in the pitch black nighttime.
"Kailiiiiiiii," he singsongs, moving her hair to try and make eye contact with her.
But all he gets in response is a drawn out whine and he sighed.
"That's your girl man," Jeno nudged his teammate, and Chenle internally cursed at the smile that immediately broke onto his face.
That was his girl.
"Fine, you can keep your head there but if you drool I swear I will have someone drop you off the top of that pyramid."
Kaili made a noise of content and Chenle rolled his eyes.
He wasn't sure how, but somewhere between unloading the bus and getting to rooms, Lili had ended up on her best friend's back.
He slid her off, turning around to face her and make sure she didn't topple over.
"Lili, we're here. You can sleep in a real bed now instead of just my bony shoulder."
"But you're comfy." Her eyes are open now, and Chenle tries not to let out an "aw" at the way she's looking at him— sleepy eyes full of comfort and a small smile on her lips.
So to squash the aggressive butterflies in his stomach, he instead says "I don't even understand how you're always so tired."
"I'm a very busy girl okay, I need my rest."
He rolls his eyes, taking her key card out of his pocket and opening the door, letting her roll her luggage into the small suite.
Chenle quickly checks his watch for the time.
"We have an hour and a half before lights out, make sure you wash your face and stuff tonight."
Kaili giggled. "I don't even need a boyfriend to remind me to do my skincare, I have you."
"Damn right."
There's a shortness in his words, and Kaili observes him a little deeper, trying to figure out why.
"Uhm," chenle clears his throat awkwardly, "I'm gonna go to my room, unpack and stuff. I'll be here at 8 tomorrow morning so we can go down to breakfast."
"Okay!"
Kaili gives her best friend a hug goodbye, and he squeezes a little tighter than necessary before letting her go.
"Goodnight, love you."
Kaili watches him disappear down the hall and into the elevator before closing her door, only to open it twenty seconds later when someone starts banging on it.
It swings open to reveal Yuna, and the girl shoved past her captain, letting herself into her room.
"I know I did not just hear you guys say 'I love you' and still pretend to be just best friends."
"Sure make yourself at home Yuna," Kaili mumbles after the girl, ignoring the topic at hand.
"Thanks cap," she sits down in the Kaili's bed, grabbing the remote off the bedside table and flipping through channels. "Now, we're gonna watch this cheesy movie that's already halfway over and you're going to tell me all about how you're totally not in love with your best friend."
Kaili rolled her eyes, "I'm not in love with chenle!"
"Yeah totally, do you have any popcorn?"
With a sigh, Kaili unzips a pocket of her carry on, sliding the paper bag into the microwave.
"I'll watch the movie with you, but we're not talking about Chenle."
"So you don't want to know all about how Shuhua was batting her eyelashes at him in the lobby?"
Kaili rips the bag of popcorn open, sitting next to her teammate on the bed.
"She was doing what now?"
Yuna smirks, grabbing a handful of kernels.
"So basically-"
