"Goodmorning Starshine!"
These are not the words Kaili wants to hear first thing in the morning, but she doesn't get a choice as her eyes open and Yuna stares back down at her.
"I literally set an alarm."
The jingling music goes off in the background as if to help make her point, but Yuna just clicks dismiss.
"But it's so much better to wake up to my beautiful face than that boring old phone screen."
Kaili laughs out loud, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes and crawling out of bed.
"How could I argue with that."
The girls spend the next twenty minutes listening to music as they get ready, and soon there's a knocking at their door.
"Wow I wonder who it could be," Yuna speaks as she swings open the door to reveal Chenle.
Kaili rolls her eyes, grabbing the key card and joining her roommate at the door.
"Can you believe this Kaili? Chenle came to take me to breakfast!"
"Wow, he's so generous, that means I don't have to now!"
Yuna makes a playful shove at her captain, and Chenle laughs at their antics before weaving an arm through his best friend's.
Kaili takes it easily, the movement being second nature at this point, but she laughs seeing his other elbow held out towards her teammate.
"Are you coming or not?"
Yuna laughs, linking her arm around his and allowing him to escort them to the elevator.
"Woah, didn't realize you had game like that, Chenle," Jeno teases, holding the elevator door open as the three enter.
"A cheerleader on each arm, teach me your ways."
Chenle grins, "no teaching involved, you either have it or you don't."
The boys roll their eyes, jostling each other around. Chenle quickly drops the girls' arms so he can join in on the elbow throwing, and Kaili laughs when Yuna chides them for almost hitting her.
The two cheerleaders strut out of the elevator together as the boys behind them grumble, and they take a seat at one of the tall tables against the wall.
"Good morning, my lovelies." Kaili greets her teammates, and a chorus of "morning"s at various levels of energy echo back.
"So, does everyone still have their copy of the schedule? We're heading over to the practice complex after this. Meet in the lobby at 9 and make sure to send coach your lunch order."
The girls at her table nod along, and when Kaili is satisfied with the energy, she gets up to grab a plate.
"I love hotel breakfasts."
Chenle is already standing at the waffle maker when his friend arrives, and she laughs at his statement.
"Thats a weird way to say you like underseasoned and vaguely wet breakfast items."
She scoops a spoonful of eggs onto her plate, proving her point as they make a wet plopping noise, and both teens try (and fail) to not make a face.
"I need the protein. I need the protein." Kaili reminds herself as she grabs packets of salt and pepper in an attempt to salvage her tastebuds.
The waffle maker dings as she rips open the paper, and Chenle ignores the billowing steam as he uses a weird plastic utensil to slide the now fully cooked waffle onto an empty plate.
"M'lady," he says, pushing the plate toward his shorter friend.
Kaili looks at him in confusion.
"Do you want me to put salt on that for you?"
Chenle laughs at a volume much too loud for the time, and Kaili continues to frown in confusion as he pours more batter into the hot cookware.
"No, not unless you like your waffles salty. That ones yours."
"No, you made this, Le. I'm not eating it." She protests.
"That one was a test, now I know how to use the machine, so mine will be better. Really, I'm being selfish."
Kaili rolls her eyes at his logic, but she accepts the plate anyway.
"Well, if that's the case, I'll sacrifice by eating your practice waffle."
He looks proud, but his smile quickly changes to a dazed one when Kaili stretches to give him a peck on the cheek.
"You're the best."
The young girl makes her escape before she can regret the action, scampering back to her teammates and tucking into her breakfast.
She avoids eye contact with everyone as she butters her waffle, but soon Yuna's voice is whispering in her ear.
"Chenle and Kaili sitting in a tree-"
Kaili shoves her away, but the younger girl's laughter is strong even as she fights not to be pushed off her chair.
