"Lele?"

Kaili's voice was soft, her head picking up off of its resting spot and peeking up at the clock on her wall.

"Lele!"

She spoke a little louder this time, shaking his shoulder slightly to try and wake him up. He groaned and shuffled around a little bit, but refused to open his eyes.

"Lele it's 3 am, your parents are going to murder you"

That woke him up, the chinese boy sitting up instantly, almost knocking Kaili off of her own bed with the sudden movement.

"Fuck" was all he said, reaching over to her bed side table and opening his phone. He was greeted by a barrage of notifications, six calls from his mother and ten texts.

He immediately clicked on her contact picture, pressing the call icon.

Even though it was three am, she picked up on the first ring. Kaili was still half asleep so she couldn't make out the words, but the silence from her best friend told her that his mother was giving him a speech.

About three minutes later, the other side of the line went quiet, Chenle finally explaining to his mother.

"I'm sorry mom, we dropped off some of the younger kids and then I came to hang out with Kaili, I didnt realize how tired I was and just fell asleep. I'll come home right now"

This time she was able to hear his mothers words.

"You're literally two doors down, you can just stay. Just make sure you text me next time so I don't worry okay?"

"I promise, thanks mom I love you"

"Yeah thanks mom, I love you too" Kaili added, putting her face way too close to the phone.

Mrs.Zhong laughed and both teens could hear the smile on her face when she spoke again.

"You're welcome kids, now go to sleep, it's 3 am"

"Yeah Chenle it's 3 am, you psycho"

The boy rolled his eyes, chuckling and adding one last "I love you" to his mother before hanging up, immediately collapsing back on the mattress.

"Apperently our mothers both like the other more than their own kid"

"That's because I'm a good influence"

"Sure you are, how is my mother not even a little upset that we're literally sleeping in the same bed right now?"

"We've been sleeping in the same bed since we were like six"

"Yeah, but now we're hormonal teenagers. And we both know I'm hot, so..." He trailed off, Kaili busting out in laughter at his attempt to make a sexy face.

"Yeah sure, because who wouldn't want to get with that" she gestured to him, his facade breaking as he joined her in laughing.

The original plan of going back to sleep was ruined as they stayed up arguing about who was the hotter best friend and who would have a crush on the other if they weren't best friends.

"How have you never had a crush on me?" Chenle whisper yelled in fake outrage.

"Well you've never had a crush on me"

"Yeah I have, on like three different occasions"

The tease she had prepared died in her throat at the confession, her jaw hanging open as she looked in his eyes.

"Really?"

"Yeah really, and frankly I find it a little offensive that you haven't"

"Maybe I should try it once, just see what it's like"

She instantly regretted the words, scared he was going to think that was her confessing, but he didnt even question it, going on with the joke as he pulled her closer to him to go back to sleep.

"Yeah sure, try it some time and let me know how it feels"

"Sure thing Lele"

She reached up to run her hand through his hair a few times as he melted into her touch, falling asleep almost instantly.

She trailed her hand down from his hair, outlining the soft lines of his face, a whisper falling out of her mouth.

"Honestly it feels pretty scary"
