The pregnancy was really starting to get to Padme. Her back was constantly aching, her ankles were always sore, and her belly was like carrying around a watermelon. Her stomach was getting harder to hide, the regal dresses he wore to conceal herself weighing her down even more. Still she worked tirelessly in the senate.
She had started to have meetings with Palpatine every few days, subtly stealing information off him, risking her life for the sake of the Republic. She felt very heroic, but also a bit stupid. A woman well into her third trimester of pregnancy stealing information that if found could have her executed.
But then again, it's her passion.
She felt like she had faded into the background when she found out she was pregnant, but to be back in action, helping the Republic take steps away from corruption, was exhilarating for her.
Padme ran for queen of Naboo because she knew that helping people who couldn't help themselves was what she would devote her life to. Giving a voice to those who couldn't speak was her passion, one of the things she loved most. So when the Queen asked her to become senator, she hastily agreed. Because if she wasn't going to speak up for the helpless, who would?
So as Padme sat at her desk, running various codes she learnt while spying for the Jedi earlier in the Clone Wars to break through a firewall she had intercepted off Palpatine's data pad, she couldn't help but feel proud. Proud that she was a part of a group, working to rid the galaxy of corruption. Proud that she had spoken for those who couldn't speak for themselves.
Proud that she was paving the way for a better galaxy for her unborn child.

Well hello there.
It's been a hot minute.
I haven't updated in over a month and I just want to apologise. Also I'm sorry for this short chapter.
I'm thinking of having a proper schedule for updating, that way you guys get consistent updates and I don't just have random urges to write about how unfair Anakin's story was.
Some good news though is that the next chapter should be out in the next couple of days, I'm already halfway done with it but it won't be much longer than this one. Sorry.
