9 - A Choice

"What?" Padme whispered. She was well aware of the dreams Anakin had about his mother and how much pain they caused him. To even think that they could come true... no, she couldn't think about that. She had to be strong for Anakin. For their unborn child.

Anakin's vision became foggy with tears as he looked up to meet her gaze, unable to say those words again. Padme began to trace patterns on his arms at an attempt to soothe her distraught husband. "I'm not going to die Anakin, not for a very long time."

How could she even say that! No, there must be some way, she can't die! I can't live without her! A million thoughts raced through Anakin's mind, each more painful than the next, forcing him to tears. "I don't know what to do Padme, you and our child are going to die and I can't do anything about it." Padme embraced him and he sobbed into her hair, trying to calm down.

They stood like that for minutes, maybe hours. It was only when Anakin's breathing slowed Padme began to speak. "Ani, talk to Obi-Wan, he can help." She whispered. Anakin shook his head. "No, no I can't, he'll be so disappointed. I-I can't." Padme frowned, determined to put her political skills to good use. "He'll understand Ani, he'll help. Remember how upset he was when he found out your mother died,"Anakin flinched. "He wants to make things right, and this is the first step." Padme finished, proud of her words of wisdom.

"But the Jedi, they won't help, they'll have you die if they keep their Chosen One!" Anakin said, practically spitting out the end of his sentence. "You'd be surprised Ani, but do it please. For me. For our child." Said Padme as she took Anakin's hands and placed them over her stomach. Anakin offered a little smile as he felt a hard kick under his palm. "Alright angel, I will." He said. Padme responded with a warm smile. "Thank you Anakin. Even our son agrees with me." Anakin released a small chuckle. "Son? With a kick that hard we're definitely having a girl."

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for over 600 reads! Support like this really keeps me writing. (Also a certain person constantly nagging and threatening to slap me... you know who u r ;) ) I'm sorry I couldn't update sooner as school as been absolutely hectic.
