Descending from the second floor, I reach the bottom of the stairs where Rouge awaits me, "You're up early. Jackie made an impression on you, didn't she?"

I ignore the memories of the Rake screaming at the top of its lungs throughout the night, depriving me of rest, "We'd always wake up before dawn to train."

"You're ready, then?" She admires my feathered garb and mask.

I take my mask off, the bag full of my belongings hanging over my shoulder, "Ready."

Rouge nods, "Good," she waves her hands at me, "Now leave it all behind."

"I'm sorry, what?" I chuckle.

"Leave it all behind. We will only take the clothes on our backs, our weapons, and use whatever the land provides. I'm being serious. At what point did I ever say we're gonna bring supplies with us? It'll slow us down," she punches my bag, and I click my tongue, dropping it on the floor with a soft thump.

"There's no way I'm bringing that shit all the way back upstairs," I huff, staring down at the rucksack with irritation.

Rouge giggles, "Alright, but you'll end up making Slenda disappointed in you."

I shake my head before picking the bag back up again, "This is just blackmail..."

Having tossed my bag onto my bed upstairs, I walk back down to Rouge who speaks to Slenda with an adamant tone, "...we're not venturing too far in. Only far enough so that we'll see the Dregs' movements."

"As long as I have your word on that... Zalga's Terrors regularly patrol the area closest to her castle, and the closer you get to her, the more inclined she will be to personally kill you and abduct him. However, we still do not comprehend how badly she wants him; so, please, take care of yourself and our beloved Skulker, alright?" Slenda kneels down and puts both of her hands on Rouge's arms. They look more like old friends than master and Proxy.

I sit down on the stairs, already dreading the thought of living outside of the mansion. This is just another exile except it's for two weeks in Zalga's territory. The fact that she could get involved directly is bad enough.

"Are we ready to go now?" I ask, feeling better at the thought I'll grow from the experience. Maybe I'll make Slenda even prouder.

"Yes," Rouge agrees without letting Slenda speak another word, "we're leaving. I hope you didn't leave your courage behind."

I feel the Rake lay a hand on my shoulder to remind me of its existence, "As long as you're with me. But by myself? That's another story."

Rouge grins as I stand up, "That's exactly why we're doing this," she slaps my chest, "You'll have a heart of iron once the two weeks come to an end. Come on now."

Following Rouge to the front door, Slenda puts a gentle hand on my shoulder, "You could not be in safer hands than Rouge's, (Y/N). Other than my own, of course," she chuckles, "You have nothing to be afraid of."

"I'll be fine," I smile up at her, "After all the stuff I've been through, I think I've seen everything."

Slenda doesn't respond, instead gripping my shoulder tighter before setting me free. The girls see us off to hug Rouge and I as they say goodbye. Jill promises to take me out on "a walk through memory lane" when I come back and that she has a secret to tell me. Jackie puts her head to mine, whispering a few last-minute tips. Jane hugs me tightly and wishes she could go with us.

Jackie challenges me after, "Good luck. Next time, your punch will knock me out. Right?"

"Have some realistic expectations," I laugh and pat her back, "I couldn't have gotten this far without you."
